Re: Spring is Near? Reply #3 – March 31, 2018, 02:38:53 pm Terrible Spring so far in the Midwest. Average high’s now should be around 60 and something like 5 of the next 7 days will have highs no better than 40 including today and tomorrow. 🤬Need me some Spring!!! Will go straight from winter to summer if this keeps up!Dave 1 Likes
Re: Spring is Near? Reply #4 – March 31, 2018, 02:43:36 pm Steve,Indeed...my plan is to have my daughter chauffeur me about to my favorite campgrounds when I’m not so willing to do it myself.Like my dear ol’ Dad always used to say, “I buy...you fly”.Works for me. Kent 2 Likes
Re: Spring is Near? Reply #5 – March 31, 2018, 11:09:14 pm Did someone say “Spring Break”! 😁 Oh yeah I’m out of here! 🚐Leaving town tomorrow morning, first stop breakfast with Dad. Then taking the LD to spend a week relaxing at Sandy Beach Campground in Rio Vista, Ca. It’s looking like good weather, I even packed shorts 🕶Cynthia 4 Likes
Re: Spring is Near? Reply #6 – April 01, 2018, 02:29:37 am Hauled in some extra firewood this afternoon--north Missouri is in a band for 3" of Easter snow tomorrow. Our family never considered Spring had sprung 'til after my parents' anniversary; they were married Easter Sunday--April 13, 1952, in Princeton, near the Iowa line--where it rained, sleeted, & snowed...so I've still got two weeks to go for spring.Non-scientific survey: are the ears the first or last to go on the bunny and thumbs up or down on Peeps? For me the ears go first, & it's thumbs down on the Peeps.A blessed Easter to all, & safe travels to all lucky enough to have sprung.Lynne 1 Likes
Re: Spring is Near? Reply #7 – April 01, 2018, 03:06:17 am It's been a warm winter in the lowlands of SoCal. Many 80 degree days, today's high was 81.Our local mockingbirds are on their second batch of chicks, the singing starts in earnest at about midnight and goes on for hours. In return, we had a mostly dry winter.Springs starts when we get decent rains and ends when the hills across the street turn brownLarry

Re: Spring is Near? Reply #9 – April 01, 2018, 10:39:02 am In our household spring starts when this Magnolia blooms in our front yard. <smile> Since it can rain any day of the year here in the PNW, rain is not a indication of anything except its wet out. 1 Likes

Re: Spring is Near? Reply #13 – April 01, 2018, 01:59:00 pm My Spring ... swollen and red eyes with eyelids that are dry and cracked. I can tell it's Spring simply by trying to open my eyes in the morning because they're matted shut. By the end of Spring, I've got black, creased circles under my eyes that make me look 10 years older. Relief ... 10 minutes in a very hot shower or traveling north. And so it goes. 2 Likes
Re: Spring is Near? Reply #14 – April 01, 2018, 02:18:44 pm "Spring is here", is when you hear the Meadow Larks sing and you can also see Robins in your yard. That is growing up in the Midwest. 1 Likes

Re: Spring is Near? Reply #18 – April 01, 2018, 05:31:23 pm "Papa ain't gitten any younger and I can see the writing on the wall!"---I figure if I can find my keys, hoist myself into the cab, and see road signs and the white line (if any!), I'm still good to go! But, yes, the time will come, probably sooner than we think and a lot sooner than we hope. As we age, doing the rig prep and maintenance becomes more difficult, everything takes more planning, time, effort, and energy, and recovery time to 'unkink' from roof climbs, under-the-chassis forays, and assorted inside and outside rig chores is longer. Things that we used to do without giving a thought to their complexity or physical demands now may require a bit of 'contemplative consideration' before proceeding! So, Grasshoppers, don't waste a minute of 'RV time'! Don't put off the 'goseedo' dreams and plans; regrets and adventures never experienced are not what one wants to remember when the time does come to hang it up. 4 Likes

I've laughed & shared with my surviving aunt (married to my dad's younger brother/graduated with my mom/all siblings went to same HS in Princeton, MO) that tractor/brush hog/chainsaw/motorhome are words that would never have been used in the same sentence with my name by those who knew me in the past, that my dad's gotta be looking down shaking his head enough to cause whiplash, & is saying "What is she doing now?" Spending his money on the LD is the best thing I've ever done, but I'd trade that for what LB & LB2 have; I so enjoy what y'all share--thx for the smiles. As far as spring goes, we got 5" of Easter snow, it's been ranging from the 20s @ night to highs in the 40s, going up to the 50s tomorrow, then back to the 20-40 rollercoaster with more snow for Fri. & Sun.--this time the big hit looks to be along the I-70 corridor & just a dusting for us up here in the boonies. Missouri's got weather for everybody if you stick around, 'cause it will change shortly. I've seen a few robins & was amazed at how fat the looked (though the neighbors' smorgasbord might have something to do with that).Happy spring & safe travels--Lynne 1 Likes
