Pete has lead multiple long LD caravans and is a very interesting guy to talk with...like so many LD owners.
He is scheduled to attend the Morro Bay GTG, in two weeks.

Great photo, Don. I have always regretted I had to cancel out of the trip due to emergency surgery.

A couple of shots from what I believe was our last camp on the Sea of Cortez. Larry, when you see Pete please thank him for organizing one of our best trips ever.

In the first picture, some guy has a white Jeep. We thought that was a good idea so we got one too.
In the second picture, there is KoKo and Pelli, the Jeep Liberty.

PS, your pictures are better.

Our Jeep has been a faithful companion, easy to tow, goes anywhere, not too big. And Don I notice in that sunset picture your kayak on the roof of your Liberty, from which you no doubt took your picture.

To others I'd just relate one little lesson from this trip. I'd never been much for "guided" tours, preferring to guide myself. So when Pete was advertising for participants in this trip I wasn't immediately convinced. I wanted to tour Baja in our LD, as I'd done 13 years before by motorcycle with a friend, but $1000 for the services of a guide, with all other expenses still on us? But we signed up anyway and I'm so glad we did.

Our guides Barry and Vonda from their little company Baja and Back were, IMO, the key to it all. The route through Baja is pretty obvious, but everything else can be a bit confusing. Barry and Vonda knew where to camp, where to dine, where essential services could be found and, most of all, sort of the "culture" of touring Baja. And they kept us entertained with the "right" things to do down there.

So the lesson is that if you find yourself a bit reluctant to embark on an adventure of this sort, foreign country, unfamiliar territory, being alone if trouble develops, consider a guided tour. It can smooth all that over. And in our case the expense was well worth it. And we met some good people, like Don and Dorothy.

Plenty of second-hand references to this company, but I didn't find a website for Baja and Back; the URL in search results brings up something called 'Bandanna Life' in German. 'Baja and Back' may have sold to another company or just closed down?

Great photos!  There's only one thing sweeter than a Lazy Daze and that's a whole line of 'em!

Yes, B&B is no longer in business. Unfortunately Barry passed away a few years after our trip. I think that ended it. Pete did the homework to find B&B and I'm sure other businesses were under consideration. I'm sure there are some good ones operating now.
