Average Age of a Lazy Dazer is . . .
63.05 years. 

Admittedly, this is probably not very accurate as it's based on a tiny sample size of only 124 ages which I obtained from the birthday calendar on this forum.  And some of those may not even be owners, just registered forum members who were willing to put their age in their profile.

Thought it would an interesting exercise (in futility?) though.  I obviously have too much time on my hands!    :D

For many years we had a member known as Roz, the wannabe. She never did buy one.
People are going start calling you Greg, the wannabe.
You need to buy a Lazy Daze...then you would have plenty to do .
I doubt that you are getting any younger.

From my point of view, the average LD owner is older than 63.
We see few young people at the MB GTG or the LD Caravans.
The LD owner's we meet on the road are usually retired.

Wonder if the average age is skewed by the constant flow of new members, anywhere from 1-5 a day.
I assume many are looking for used LDs or RVs in general and probably are younger in age.
LDs are too expensive for most younger people to buy new.
We could not afford a new LD 25 years years ago, so we bought a 12 year old Front Lounge, after a long search for the right one.

I was 41 when I bought my first Lazy Daze and joined this group. I'll let you all do the math.  :)

If you check a member's profile, it shows the join date and possibly a birth date.

Age is only a number.  I had just turned 48 when we bought our 1985 TK in 1991.  Was 65 when we bought our 2005 RB in 2009.  Am 74 now, but feel a WHOLE lot younger than that number might bring to mind.

As they say, your only as old as you feel (or act)!  :)  Added Judie and Kent's ages so we are now at 63.10.

I have chosen not to put my name on my profile.  However I think the name Roz is quite nice.  And really nothing wrong with aspirations, goals, and dreams.  Even if it looks to the group as a wannabe.

Maybe it's just me and my odd affliction with the English language, but it seems to me that the term 'wannabe' often carries some negative and derisive connotations. People having interest but lacking current LD ownership, having joined the group,  certainly aren't seen in a negative light.   Then there are those group members who for one reason or several others have relinquished their LD and purchased a different platform, whether motorized or tagging behind.   I propose that this subset of the LDO population could better be described as having the status of "Once and Future LD Owner". 

Just a thought.

No negativity here with "wannabe", Joel. The term has been used since inception of the forum with respect. I recall back when "Roz the Wannabe" had a large support team on the forum, trying to match her up with the just right Lazy Daze. We had fun and felt good trying to help.

Wow, I'm thinking this subject may warrant it's own thread, n'est-ce pas?  We also need to include "has-beens" (which I am) and "never was's" to the discussion!  :D

I can say that the cost of a newer Lazy Daze is certainly a barrier for most people up to their early 50s.  Careers, kids, mortgages... that sort of stuff takes priority, and RVs in general are more of a weekend thing.
Based on my own needs and where I am in life, l seriously doubt I would have spent the money for a new one.  I would have bought a lesser RV from another manufacturer and dealt with the poor build quality for 3-5 years before I sold it and bought something else. It would have served the intended purpose. 
To me, it seems like Lazy Daze owners are more in it for the long haul, making an initial investment in quality and treating them with respect.  This probably leads to them being in much better shape than their contemporaries years down the line.

Back in the day when the LD Caravan Club only allowed original owners, most members had been previously owned other RVs, before getting smart and buying an LD.  Few were young people, the majority being in their late 50s or older .
At 44, I wanted an LD but didn't want  to spend that much money, having other plans (a bigger house).
Instead, we bought used. Eight years laters, it was different story and we bought new.
It was good training owning an older LD, it made us appreciate how much better built the new one was, worth taking good care of.

Most LD owners take good care of their rigs, I have run into some who feel that an expensive RV shouldn't need much maintenance. This are the LDs with leaks, so beware, not all used LDs are in good shape.
