Re: Unusual RV Reply #109 – January 20, 2018, 11:38:10 am The GM Futurliner is an amazing vehicle. I think we’ve seen this on LDO before.Classic vehicles can garner a lot of attention and some big bucks.https://youtu.be/DwoUCNFpfkIThere were only a handful of Futurliners built as showpieces for GM. Some brought back from the graveyard. Just another reason to take care of our treasured LD’s.Kent 3 Likes
Re: Unusual RV Reply #110 – January 20, 2018, 06:17:11 pm Sat in the driver's seat of one of these this past summer. It's up there, for sure. Interesting electrical systems, but pretty basic layout otherwise. Dually front wheels will make a man out of you. There was also a re-build featured on a TV show a year or so ago. Not a super-artful restoration, but more along the lines of a Monster Garage thing, although they did try to make the final result at least look appropriate. Chip 2 Likes
Re: Unusual RV Reply #111 – January 20, 2018, 07:56:19 pm Chip, No speeding away in that beast. I believe top speed was between 25 and 35 mph. Certainly not a great get away car, but you sure would make the nightly news.Kent
Re: Unusual RV Reply #112 – January 20, 2018, 08:53:57 pm Looks like 40-50 mph, but I believe they flatbed it to shows. Seems like driving it would be like piloting an LD while sitting in the emergency hatch. Here's a page from the caretakers: Futurliner #10 Tour Schedule – National Automotive And Truck Museum

You can be sure there is more hidden damage.Matching the existing paneling could be difficult. It wouldn't look right on a modern truck, so add in the cost of mid-fifties classic pickup.Caveat emptor .Larry 1 Likes
