2007 26MB for sale on eBay December 28, 2017, 08:58:16 pm Just came across this on eBay, can anyone shed some light on it? It is located in NY.2007 Lazy Daze 26.5MBWB E450 RV Class C Gas Bunk Motorhome Camper motor home...Description says it has a PA Salvage title but repairs have been made (pics show damage and repairs). Looking for thoughts on this and has anyone else dealt with this kind of issue (Salvage Title)?

The repairs extend down the starboard wall where the sheet aluminum repair was sealed with what appears to be Dicor. Factory repair would have been astronomically expensive. Another thought, as I return for a quick edit - you might have trouble insuring it on a salvage title. Research would be in order if you are considering a purchase.
Re: 2007 26MB for sale on eBay Reply #2 – December 28, 2017, 10:27:04 pm The biggest two (2) challenges are:(1) Can a buyer inspect the LD or have a qualified person inspect it before finalizing the deal?(2) How to determine the quality of the substantial repair to the roof line now that it's "patched"?If this LD were to sell for less than $10,000 then the risk/reward favors the buyer. If this LD were to sell for an average market price for this 2007 MB, the risk/reward favors the seller. And if the LD Factory had completed the repairs, it might actually be a chance to get a good deal on a salvage title vehicle. However, it's unclear from the ebay ad who completed these repairs which are now out of sight for the most part.So it comes down to a buyer willing to assume risk for a price that seems favorable to the buyer under these circumstances. If it makes any differences, we'd not be interested in this LD because of too many unknowns and the distance to the RV.

I see them frequently in California. Of course, the stigma of the title (warranted or not) will follow when it comes to resale value.

What it does tell you is that faced with repairing an RV, especially what an insurance company, used to cars, considers ancient and unrepairable, will scrap it. They will send you your $7000, auction off the carcass, and say 'thanks for all those premium payments. They don't know anything about RV's, or how to fix them. They probably, in New York, don't know about Lazy Dazes, and don't want to know. That is something all of us with older motorhomes have to contend with. Mine is about to turn 19. If some yahoo crashes into me and causes say $5000 damage, I might be getting a check from my insurance company too. So the salvage title is getting easier and easier to come by. I've seen many SOB's 20 years old that had one wheel in the junk yard already. This particular RV ($28,000 is ridiculous!) could be a good deal at $12k. First thing I would do is 'bite the bullet' and have Lazy Daze repair it, and it might be several thousand, and several months, but it would be fixed right. Pictures and the Lazy Daze bill would be a necessity to eventually pass this along to another buyer. It doesn't seem to have many options. I'm sure that rear camera was the result of a five fingered discount... In addition, other parts matter. If it spent it's life in New York, how rusty is the running gear underneath? Probably no maintenance records, or contact with previous owner(s). It depends on how comfortable you are with risk. RonB

So there are varying degrees of 'salvage'. Having pictures of the actual damage is half the battle. Fixing it right is the other half. A decent deal at $12k. Less so the more it goes up...Chip

The insurance company totaled it after an 18 inch thick branch was ripped off a hickory tree in an extreme wind storm, and landed on the roof. The tree expert estimated 2,000 pounds of weight slammed onto the roof and actually sliced all the way through the trailer parked next to me on the driver's side. The driver's side of this RV, between the driver's seat and the refrigerator, took the brunt of the hit. I was in the RV when it happened. Scary experience! The insurance company totaled it because there was clear evidence of a "crushed" suspension. I'd be VERY reluctant to purchase this one. No way am I believing the claim of "cosmetic" damage. So if a manufacturer of a coach won't work on of their coaches that has that "Scarlet Letter", it's good cause to give pause....

If your state allows vehicles with those titles on the road there are companies that will write them.Jim
