Pay It Forward Suggestion November 15, 2017, 10:39:52 am I've wondered if the LDO Forum has ever discussed or experimented with offering LD or RV parts to other members of the Forum for the cost of shipping. I'm guessing that many LDO's have a box or two of parts gathering dust. I don't have many OEM or replacement parts, but if someone needed them I'd be so pleased to give them a new home. In addition, I thought if someone needed a LD/RV part, they might post their need and see if anyone has that part for the cost of shipping. I wonder what other Forum members might think? 1 Likes
Re: Pay It Forward Suggestion Reply #1 – November 15, 2017, 10:58:28 am I belong to a couple of other forums and we do that all the time. One is a bicycle group not unlike LDO in that the wntire forum is based on one custom and locally hand-built bike maker called Rivendell. I have bought, sold, and traded many bikes and parts and accessories with other members over the years. That group has a very vibrant exchange dynamic, and, like I said, specific to just one bike maker.I like the idea. 2 Likes
Re: Pay It Forward Suggestion Reply #2 – November 15, 2017, 11:01:09 am <smile> sadly I have a almost garage full of LD stuff I just knew I needed but now gathers space and dust. I'd be happy to 'pay' it forward for postage. 1 Likes
Re: Pay It Forward Suggestion Reply #3 – November 15, 2017, 11:06:43 am I don't think that the LD boards have ever had a 'formal' structure or board category set up to offer parts and accessories available for only the shipping charges, but these offers do appear from time to time in other forum categories, e.g., Classified or another where the offer might seem to 'fit'. If people have LD or RV-related items that they're willing to part with for the cost of shipping, perhaps the existing forums/structures could be used? 2 Likes

Anyone who has items which s/he thinks other members might use or benefit from may post such an offering message here, probably in the Around the Campfire forum. Anyone who is interested in the posters' items should contact the poster privately after the initial post.Chris 3 Likes

Much better than having a 4 year old offering get bumped with "is this still available" As to non-RV items, I'm not sure where you'd want those posted (and it could get a little messy if we suddenly had folks posting furniture, lawn equipment, etc. )

I was going to add a footnote to remind folks that our Classifieds forum should be reserved for Lazy Daze or RV specific items. Obviously, we don't want to compete with Craigslist. Several members have commented on this; I appreciate your comments.Chris
Re: Pay It Forward Suggestion Reply #7 – November 17, 2017, 02:40:15 pm On the "old" forum, I'd just offer up what I had, and then I didn't have it very long. Always for shipping costs, or pick up. And we leave out goodies at various meets (Ladeze, etc) for the taking, although one was expected to take it back home if it didn't go away.Having a 1990 and a 2005, there is always something left around. I think right now it's cab/overhead curtains and faucets. That being said, a classified with a two or three month automatic delete might be a good thing???

I'll go out and measure in a bit, if you remember having a door of any size...(PO replaced the door with a festive curtain. Yup.)Thanks! Chip
