Re: Coffee Reply #100 – June 27, 2017, 10:47:33 pm I enjoy a nice freshly ground cup of coffee at a reasonable price. A pound of "Civit" coffee goes for a bit more than I'd want to pay at over $100.00 + a pound. Here's a little film about the origins of Luwak or WildCivit Coffee. https://youtu.be/RQ1gpUybLYgWorth a shot at about $7.00 (some considerably more) per an ounce on Amazon. Hey I'm game at least once in a lifetime.Kent

Re: Coffee Reply #106 – September 22, 2017, 11:11:10 pm Death Wish coffee...Oh my. There was a recent article about "canned" Death Wish coffee that appeared in coffee sold on the East Coast. It does not effect roasted Death Wish coffee, however, so it does seem like an interesting blend to try when you want to really wake up quickly on a chilly morning. Here's a copy of the article I read on AOL yesterday. Take this news with a dash of salt and some 1/2 & 1/2. Just sayin'KentCDC: 'Death Wish' coffee could have fatal consequencesAOL.COM 1 day agoDeath Wish Coffee's Cold Brew might be a little more literal than you probably hoped for.The Centers for Disease Control warns that consuming Nitro Cold Brew 11-ounce cans could have fatal consequences. The self-named “world’s strongest coffee" could lead to botulism because certain cans could contain a deadly toxin called Botulin.Botulism is a potentially deadly form of food poisining. The CDC says symptoms of botulism usually start with a weakness of the muscles that control the eyes face mouth and throat.Death Wish Coffee Company recalled the product as a precaution and released a statement saying their customers' safety is of paramount importance.Customers who bought the product through the website are guaranteed a refund within 60 days. The cans could have also been bought at independent stores mostly on the East Coast. The FDA says that there have been no illnesses reported at this time.
Re: Coffee Reply #107 – September 23, 2017, 09:10:56 am Thanks for the heads up, Kent. They should market the canned stuff as "Double Death Wish" coffee!Enjoying a cuppa joe as I type this . . . not Death Wish brand. 1 Likes
Re: Coffee Reply #108 – September 23, 2017, 12:57:26 pm Now that Blue Bottle’s tech millionaire founders have sold to Nestle for $700mm, look for more and more coffee marketing plays. Deathwish has been around for a while, and I think it appeals to the same crowd as Carolina Reaper chili’s, those for whom excess is never adequate, ie: most young men. At least that’s my gross generalization. Here is a dilemma some of you may have dealt with. I get regular shipments of coffee delivered, so I don’t have to dirty my filter holder with the dreck on store shelves. How do you get the shipment to find you on the road? Or will I be forced to stock up ahead of departure and drink coffee as the beans decline in freshness? (Tongue in cheek)
Re: Coffee Reply #109 – September 23, 2017, 01:48:49 pm Paul, if you know your route and schedule ahead of time, you should be able to ship fresh beans to any US Post Office, general delivery. There are other methods mentioned in this article (substitute "coffee" for "mail"): How to Get Mail on the Road: 4 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHowOr you could just visit a local coffee house wherever you are. I'm sure they would appreciate your business and you could try new and different types of coffee that you may not otherwise get a chance to sip!Time to go brew a fresh pot!

I'm sure they would appreciate your businessand you could try new and different types of coffee that you may not otherwise get a chance to sip!"If one is on a subscription for coffee to be sent at intervals, perhaps there is a way to put that subscription on "vacation hold" for the duration of your trip, and then do as suggested above. Unless one is stationed in the far reaches for an extended period of time, it should be possible to Google up likely coffee hot spots to acquire freshly roasted beans, with no special transportation problems to be solved. Just buy and brew! ;-> Virtual hugs, Judie
Re: Coffee Reply #111 – September 23, 2017, 04:45:42 pm We will stock up then go with the vacation hold. Local cafes are nice, but we buy our coffee from our son. Of course, it is the best. We should be just about out of beans when we connect with him in New York 😀

Re: Coffee Reply #113 – September 27, 2017, 10:25:44 am Great article Greg. UC Berkeley Wellness Report recently reported the same findings from these and other studies. It is always nice to hear that coffee consumption, which I really enjoy, isn't going to give me cancer or stunt my growth and might even be good for us. I clearly remember my mom putting a few spoonfulls of her coffee in my milk each morning at breakfast when I was in early grammar school. This was my introduction to many years of enjoying a strong, black 16 ounce mug of coffee every morning. Sometimes two of them. Did it stunt my growth? I'm the shortest of her three sons at 6 foot 5 inches. Tallest brother was 6 foot 7 inches.HD 3 Likes

Re: Coffee Reply #115 – October 25, 2017, 12:40:24 pm Oh no, combining coffee, chocolate and beer? Why not add some fries and a nice porterhouse and then all gastronomic and olfactory pleasure could be more efficiently consumed? The aroma of coffee blooming, the sound of the water coaxing flavor from the grounds, the steam curling up from the brew, the subtle sound of the pour into the china mug. The first hot sip that demands attention and focus. Those complex and subtle flavors that reflect so well the exotic places it was grown, spicy, sweet, earthy, fruity, bright. That satisfaction that demands another sip. The sound of the paper wrapper being peeled back, the waft of chocolate aroma as it is revealed, the smooth, waxy/oily texture as you break off a chunk. That first sweet, creamy taste that progresses to a more round, bitter finish. The way it melts as your teeth first crunch, then mash it into a light mix that glides over your tongue. The sound of the bottle cap being prised off with a delicate whoosh of escaping gas, freeing the carbonation to escape in tiny bubbles coming from nowhere. The muted soft sound of the beer hitting the glass, filling it from the bottom and top as the liquid and foam race up the sides. The thick, glistening texture of the head, perfectly mounding over the lip of the glass, beckoning. That first touch to your lips, soft, wet and fleeting, until the golden liquid breaks through with a bracing rush. The bitter, sweet hoppy flavor that cools and fortifies you. These all have a time in the day, not the same time. So I have come to believe. 6 Likes
