Our personal "fallout" after fleeing smoky Idaho was Loni, after recovering from the flu, was diagnosed Wednesday with a severe upper respiratory infection (2 antibiotics) and asthma-like symptoms bad enough to warrant use of an inhaler for the first time in her life. That smoke was (and still is) serous stuff. -- Jon
(Former) ‘06 TK “Albatross.” And (former) Vespa 250.   Alas, no more; both are gone.😕 Great memories remain! 😄

I drove from Minnesota to western Washington arriving in late June and got no smoke.  We got about 8 days on the Olympic peninsula in earlier part of August.  It moved in to the north cascades a couple weeks ago just before we headed to Seattle, where it was somewhat smokey for a week.  Then we got ash fall last Tuesday morning and drove through smoke all the way to Newport on the Oregon coast.  There has been almost no smoke the last few days in Brookings (far south Oregon coast) the last 3 days even though we are pretty close to the fire.  Heading for Yosemite in a week, we read there is some smoke there too.
I started getting lean error codes driving through smoke.  I had a problem with that which was solved in last June by replacing the mass air flow sensor.  Hopefully it is just the smoke.  Air filter looks yellow and may need to be replaced.

Jay, currently there are several fires burning in or near Yosemite.  Not sure if the South entrance is still closed.

Inciweb is an excellent source of fire information:

(Do a search for Inciweb; the URL didn't come up.)

One can also check individual states' 'fire jurisdiction' websites, e.g., Calfire, for 'local' fires.

Individual states and regions/districts also usually maintain smoke report and air quality websites; some are run by volunteers, e.g., Oregon Smoke Information , and regularly update conditions during fire incidents.

Agreed, InciWeb is an excellent source for fire news:

Looks like 41 has reopened to Yosemite.
