No generator on a 1995 ML August 26, 2017, 08:23:18 pm There's a 23' 1995 ML for sale but it lacks a generator. I can't find information if these had a spot dedicated for one in case I decided to install one. The coach is on consignment, has 69,600 miles, from the pictures looks very clean, asking price is $17,995. I would appreciate an opinion of what would be a fair price to offer if there are no major issues with the coach.
Re: No generator on a 1995 ML Reply #1 – August 27, 2017, 12:13:08 am We have a 94 with no generator and can go 5 to 6 nights during the summer with enough electricity. Wouldn't really work for full timing though or longer boondocking. A small Honda generator could solve that . In Oregon the value is probably closer to $13,000 for that age in mileage, depending on condition of course. Anything that old is a case-by-case basis.Yes there is a place for the generator. It's my favorite storage cabinet for everything else :-)

Fuel storage is a big problem.Adding a generator is extremely expensive and not really practical in older models.Running unjust batteries and solar is OK in the summer but will not be enough for winter camping, unless you spend a bundle on a lot of solar and extra batteries. Camping styles do very but most seem to like their electronics these days.I live in earthquake country and the LD's generator is my backup power supply. The LD is our escape pod. I wouldn't own an motorhome without a generator.Larry 3 Likes
Re: No generator on a 1995 ML Reply #3 – August 27, 2017, 12:36:32 am I would agree with Larry comments. Didn't generators become stock beginning in 97 or 98? Might look for a slightly newer model.
Re: No generator on a 1995 ML Reply #4 – August 27, 2017, 01:05:39 am Thank you Peter and Larry, your feedback was so helpful! Sorry I keep asking so many questions but I lack the experience you all have and I want to make sure I'm making an informed decision. Looks like I'm back to the drawing board and will keep looking. Happy trails!☺️Sonia
Re: No generator on a 1995 ML Reply #5 – August 27, 2017, 11:49:25 am My 97 lacked a generator. I have added batteries in the generator location, 320 watts of solar and mounted a Honda 2000 for backup power. I am planning on running a fuel line from the RV tank to the generator as the Honda creates a vacuum but need to run it safely. So far I have never needed the generator as when we needed AC we were in a campground with power.
Re: No generator on a 1995 ML Reply #6 – August 27, 2017, 12:31:51 pm Sonia, I'll offer a different POV. We bought a Honda 2000 generator several years ago. I carried it diligently with our Bigfoot truck camper, and a 34 foot trailer. We used it only when hunting. In that case, it is late fall and we are camped in the forest for a couple of weeks. The genny resides now in the garage, ready to go if needed. Our '92 LD has no generator. I found one for sale a couple of years ago, and debated its merit with my wife. The conclusion was that we would pass. The reason- our style of camping doesn't call for it. We spend several months ata a time on the road, but usually in NFS campgrounds or state parks, where electricity is ubiquitous. When we boondock we use so little power that our 240 amp hour battery bank lasts longer than we do. We move a lot, so charging is accomplished via the engine. If we need it, the Honda is always available to cart along on a hitch mounted rack. But we never have. Consider how you camp, and if a generator is needed, I agree with Larry on this. The price that '95 seems high, but if you can, go see it. There is always something gained in looking a used RV, talking to owners. 1 Likes

Truly a major project to install one.Steve
