It's packed and people walk between campers or our car and RV because they are too lazy walk around to get to the water. It has been getting worse each summer over the last few years it seems.I told Gayle we need to find a good place to stay for the summers coming up and quit moving around while school is out. 1 Likes

Still not solid on destination, but probably a spin around New Mexico.We spent two summers in the Pacific Northwest floating amongst the Thousand Trails preserves, and that was okay. We spent several days there, after the 2006 Grand Caravan and loved the area. Almost had the lake to ourselves.We return two summers ago to find a completely different scene, everything filled to the brim, over developed and people everywhere. Heading to Estes Park and RMNP, we found them packed with many more people and cars, than ten years ago.Traveling in the summer has become a pain, reservations are hard to get, even on the opening day of reservations. We have a hard time planning our travels, seven months in the future. Talk about a lack of spontaneity . We made a day trip to Yosemite Valley a few weeks ago, on a Thursday, and couldn't believe the traffic. It was bumper to bumper for miles before arriving in the Valley. I couldn't wait to make the circle and get out...and we did, a couple of hours later. A reservation system maybe the only way to save some of our parks from being loved to death. It will get worse. We had a bring a dish dinner the other night. All the salmon one could eat and sides. The town mayor and fire warden came. Excitement, sure, I saw two boats and two loons go by yesterday. $7.70 a day. Dorothy went to see a doctor the other day, 90 minutes away. He asked where we were staying. Turns out he has a C parked here and would be up for the weekend. He said to knock on his door if she did not improve.BC is not congested once you get far enough north and the people are so friendly. 1 Likes

Larry You are correct we are on the lake. I lost count of how many people walked through our site and by our rig both adults and children. We recently visited Estes Park and RMNP and would never go back when school is out.I keep telling Gayle to quit making full timing sound more wonderful than it is on the blog. The information found online has made boondocking sites more difficult to find without crowds already filling the spots. We have friends who created the site Campendium and their goal was to list information about every private, public and boondocking campsite in the country. You might think that the increase in numbers is just more of the 10,000 boomers per day that retire but we have seen lots of young couples and families doing this as well. The Full Time Rvers Facebook page has over 49,000 members.In 1960 the population in the U.S. was 189,000,000 and today it's 323,000,000. They all have to be somewhere doing something other than having more children. 2 Likes

Re: Reservations Required NP Reply #12 – July 23, 2017, 05:54:06 pm Interesting about having to have reservations to get into Zion, but I guess it's better than being overcrowded. As far as people walking across campsites that is a huge pet peeve of mine!! There have been several places where people would walk across our site, without any regard to it being 'our site'. This was during off peak season often with mostly empty campgrounds. Especially when they walked between our RV and the picnic table it would just really bug me. Grrr Since we didn't have a toad and the LD windows are tinted MAYBE sometimes they thought we were weren't there, but still... Definitely campground etiquette needs some improvement. Staying off of other people's sites (unless we are specifically visiting them) is something that I stress to my kids....and they get it, thankfully. 5 Likes
Re: Reservations Required NP Reply #13 – July 24, 2017, 07:35:42 am We drove through Zion on our way back to Utah from picking up our new-to-us MB on the Tuesday before Memorial Day. It was very crowded, every pull off was full, people were walking along the road everywhere to get to overlooks or trail heads. I can't even begin to imagine how crowded it was for the holiday weekend! Glad we spent a week there years ago. Might return during the winter again but not while school is out.
Re: Reservations Required NP Reply #14 – August 18, 2017, 05:52:02 pm While our National Parks are fantastic and must be experienced, and full hookup private RV resorts occasionally preferable, we much prefer forest land campgrounds off the beaten track most of the time. There are countless great places if you take the time to find them, and off the radar of the masses. Moon Publishing's camping guides for the western states, combined with the UC Public CG app have made for many great memories! ;-)Pete
