"Isn't a LD 27' Too Small for Two People?"
Shortly after Margee and I were married in 1971, we went to the southern part of Mexico (Tequisistlan) to work at a Mission for six (6) months.  The only place that they had for us to sleep was on a single old Army cot in a  8' X 6' storage room in the back of the church.  We moved the cot next to the wall and Margee would get in first so that if I rolled at night, I'd not push her out of bed.  The storage room was next to the village basketball court which was busy every night until at least midnight.   That was home for the first couple of months.

So when some of our friends, neighbors, or camping neighbors wonder if our "LD 27' is too small for two people," I kind of chuckle a bit and mention that it's probably 2-3 times bigger than one of our first "homes."    As most LDO know, it kinda of depends on where you've been, where are you going, and with whom you are doing it.

Good story. 

The amenities of the MB certainly put some folks houses to shame.  Two sleeping areas! Full dry bath! Multiple sitting areas! Kitchen with an oven, fridge and microwave! Hot water!

Yes, the square footage is generous compared to some places I've lived too. And that doesn't consider dorms and deer camps. 🤢 yuck! Just tune in to the growing subculture of van dwelling to see some people enjoying themselves in minivans and microbusses.  It's all about the partner and the adventure.

Reminds me of my Navy days onboard ship sleeping in a 36 x 80 inch rack (bunk). Lift up the sleeping surface and you had 12 inches of depth to store your worldly possessions.

Racks were stacked three high with about 18 inches of headroom clearance.  If you were lucky, you got the top bunk!

Yeah, I think I could live with two people (and a cat) in a 27 ft. LD!

The overhead cab is SO much roomier than my Navy rack.  I had a top bunk as rank has its privileges.  My wife gets a little claustrophobic up there and couldn't understand how I slept in my rack.

Ah, RHIP.  We ossifers were only stacked two high. 24 inches of headroom! 😊

I think our 27 MB has luxurious and spacious accommodations.  Even with a German Shepherd and a 70lb. boxer mix traveling with us, there is still ample room to live and lounge.  We could happily add a kitty and not notice a difference in space, except possibly for the dog/cat interactions.  Add one child, however, and the space shrinks by 66%.   6-4-2 Rule.

We were at anchor in our little tug and a couple we hadn't previously met came by the boat, knocked, and asked if we would mind showing them our boat.  We welcomed them aboard and showed them through Cyndy's beloved little boat.  (We refer to it as the "Mama Boat.) In the forward cabin, our bed is about queen size width at one end but at least 18 inches narrower at the other end due to the shape of the bow. The woman looked at it and said, somewhat disparagingly, "Isn't that bunk a little small for two?"  I looked at her and replied "I like it.  She can't get away."

The woman looked a bit offended.  My bride rolled her eyes, but after 40 years together not surprised.  They departed and did not return.

We could likely fit two of the tug bunks into the bunk in the Lazy Daze.  That's luxury!
