Spare water pump (split from Re: Amazon Shipping)
A few days ago, after reading the thread on LD water pumps, I placed my order for a stand by pump through Amazon.

Kent, did you buy the required elbow to accompany your spare water pump? If so, what did you get?
I don't  want to put in a replacement pump in the boonies and find I need the elbow. "For the want of a nail..."

Harold,

In answer to your question, no I did not order the elbow. My LD is a RB and the pump mounts underneath the bottom drawer in the closet in the bathroom area. An elbow is not required.

As your LD is a MB, you may well need the elbow. Im sure it can't be too costly to get the elbow just in case. Otherwise another MB member may advise you as to its necessity.

Included in this post are three pics. One of the current pump as it sits in its original location and two pics of the new 4028-100-E54 (the box says 4008 Fresh Water Pump but the sticker says otherwise as does the label on the motor).

It's beginning to look like the old adage "Better safe than sorry" goes a long way in the world of RVs.

P.S. Amazon Prime rocks! I get most things in two days. Sometimes in one. Almost always free shipping.

So Kent, where is the pump located in the RB? Looks like pretty easy access!

Greg,

The RB water pump is located on the floor under the bottom closet drawer. Simply pull out the bottom drawer. You might as well pull them all out for SUPER access. The pump is right up front.

I've never had to remove the pump but it looks fairly straight forward. I'll include a pic of the RB bathroom area.

The closet is on the right. The closet door opens and shuts off the bath area from the front half of the coach.

Pull out one drawer at a time then place them up front or if the closet is fairly empty just stand them up in there.

In cold climates (freezing), I put the bottom drawer in the closet leave the closet door propped open a bit and vent warm air to the pump to keep it from freezing.

Here's a pic of the closet.

How did an Amazon Shipping thread morph into a water pump location discussion?

My apologies for my part in hijacking this thread.

Although the moderator's view will differ, I've always felt a forum is similar to sitting around a campfire and discussing anything that pops into your mind. Sometimes our thoughts get off-track . . .
