LDers who return to the fold (split and moved from Re: WTB 2010 or newer Mid-Bath)
I am always curious about former LD owners returning to the LD fold.

I know the luxury and size of some Class A's can be a swaying factor to jump ship. More leg room...separated sleeping areas...washer & dryer...larger bating areas...even a tub. Must be nice.

Before we purchased our '15 RB, I had my eyes set on a Bounder. Huge in my eyes. Thankfully I changed direction when it finally came time to purchase another RV.

So, my question is...why the change of heart? Rig too big? Class C easier to drive? ???

Anyway you cut it, to you and the others on LDO who are eagerly searching or waiting for a LD delivery, happy hunting, smooth sailing and congratulations.

I'm glad Michelle C moved Kent's message to a separate topic.  I didn't want to mess with the Seller's original post, but I'm always just as interested as Kent in his questions.  There was a recent good discussion on Class A Diesels downsizing on the Foretravel Forum which I found of great interest.  In addition, there's been several similar discussions on the iRV2 Class A Forum forum.

While I probably couldn't summarize those discussions from memory, one of  the main reasons among older, active travelers had to do with smaller is easier as we get older.   At least, that's what this older memory remembers.

I've never owned an RV and we are now awaiting our '17MB in the next few months, but when my father sold his restaurant on Cape Cod and retired, he first had a 40' cabin cruiser (he was a sailor from way back) that he would run up and down the coast from Florida to Cape Cod on.  When he got tired of that, he bought a large fifth wheel and then a huge Class A.  I never traveled with him (working too hard) but I saw all his homes-away-from-home and it struck me that there always seemed to be a lot more room than anyone would use, and if you really want to "see" the country and get into nature, there would be plenty of places those big machines could not go.  We were interested in finding an RV that was safe, well-built and able to get us into those hard to find places we are looking to enjoy; we are very excited to have found LD (I never saw one, but fortunately found the RV Consumer's Guide online that listed LD as the #1 RV for safety, resale and value).  After flying out to the mothership and seeing everything, Marie (a retired GM engineer) agreed that what we had read about LD's workmanship was on the mark and we pulled the trigger.  I'm thinking LDs will be our first and only RVs.

We began our rving with a 2005 MB that we used for 7 years and over 90,000 miles. We then moved to a 36' Tiffin Class A. It was solid motor home, but difficult to drive in wind and much too tall (12'10") to access many smaller parks. We traded this one for a 2014 Allegro Breeze that was fantastic to drive, but always had something wrong. The week after we purchased it, we returned to the factory to have the drain from the kitchen sink replaced. We had numerous problems on the coach that were fixed under warranty. The diesel motor had been upgraded for the 2010 exhaust requirements and was a nightmare. Numerous repairs all under warranty, but failed to fixed the problem. We elected to sell and move on.  To be be fair it was the best driving motorhome we owned and we loved the air leveling system. We elected to purchase another LD based upon our previous experience of the quality we enjoyed.

We have owned an '95 MB, a 2003 MB, a 2003 RB, a 2004 Born Free 24' RB, and a 35' Fifth Wheel.  The 26 foot LDs and the other rigs were all about going on short camping trips with our son on weekends mostly over the years.  We did take a three week trip once and it was getting pretty tight in there with the three of us!

I have always dreamed of travleing in retirement in a big Class A with four slides....but... now that retirement is here, crawling up the steps of the Class A and dealling with it on the road is less appealing than it once was.  We have no plan to full-time but we want a separate, always made up bedroom.  Short trips of 2-3 weeks and maybe a some somethern wintering for a couple months.

So, we began looking at large B+ models like Coach House, Phonix Cruiser, LTV and so on.  But the wife says... I want the LD quality and spacious feeling.  Let's just get that big LD.  Easy said than done.  But luckily, Bob Siegel was ready to sell his about the same time I was ready to buy one.  A few emails and a phone call and I was off to New Mexico to get it!

I brought home a gently used 2011 LD 31 TB.  To me its perfect for us at this time.  Easy to drive, easy to service and its built like a ..well... LD!  The difference between the 27 MB and the 31 TB is stunning actually.  Wardrobes are large, bath is split, shower is big.  Ours has the barrel chairs and sofa and feels more spacious up front than our RB did.  Not having the overhead bed is just fine also.  Easy to get up into the cockpit.

I'm keeping this one!

Congrats on your "keeper", nc. I remember when Bob took possession of his TB. Hope he's not giving it up for health reasons. We certainly enjoy the fixed bed and front lounge on our '02 IB.

We just bought for the 4th time a Lazy Daze this morning! My husband is getting new tires right now on it in Arizona and then driving it home to Northern CA. I am so excited you would think it is the first time owning one. We started with a 1999 MB bought in 2002 (it got to be to small because we have dogs traveling with us); then got a new 2006 Ann. Ed. 30ft and sold it after 4 years; went to a 31 ft 5th Wheel with Slide Outs (really nice to have all that room when parked, but my husband didn't like hitching it up and driving all that behind him); and then we found our old 2006 Ann Ed and re-bought it! we were very happy with it but my husband's Cancer returned so we sold it to a very nice family that is on this site in Alabama. His health problems got resolved faster then we expected, so we have been looking for another Lazy Daze for months.
Today we bought another Ann. Ed. 30ft that is in good condition and are really so pleased and excited.. we are going to finish our Traveling Bucket List. I hope we have it for many more years.

For us, the reason we sold our '85 back in 2004 after owning it for 5 years was we simply weren't using it very often. This thing called work got in the way! After we both retired in 2013, we wanted to get back into RV camping. Since we already owned a tow vehicle (Chevy Tahoe), we decided to give trailering a try and bought a 24 ft. Hi-Lo trailer. That was a big learning curve as I had never towed anything beyond a U-Haul trailer before. We somewhat got the hang of it but after a couple of years decided that trailering was not for us. We missed the convenience of camping in a motor home.

Once you are bitten by the LD bug, it's hard to go back so here we are again!

I think we were the original posters when this thread took off of our WTB post as we are looking for another LD. We had a 2003 MB, that we bought new and for financial reasons had to sell after a couple of years. College tuition costs and our daughter getting a second degree and all that... Now we are semi-retired, and college tuition is behind us....so we thought we would look for an LD several years ago and nothing became available and we continue to deal with cancer.
We tried a 2017 Northstar truck camper (have it for sale right now) and after one night with other health issues that came up between ordering in November and the shakedown this April, we know it won’t work for us...although they are a great company.   Live and learn I guess.
