Latch on shower door
How do I replace the door handle on the shower/pantry door. It broke. I think it is glass. It is attached to a mirror.  I have a 2008 31 IB

I think this is it.

But I am not sure how to remove the old one. Maybe a blow dryer to heat it up and a sharp thin putty knife. Being very careful not to break the mirror.

Is there any gap at all?  If there is, you might try some dental floss, sawing it back and forth.  Car emblems can be removed that way, as they're attached with either 3M VHB 'foam' tape or a foam-less double-stick tape.  Should work with silicone sealant as well.

Since it's attached to a mirror, see if you can shine a light or take a zoomed-in cellphone pic to see if there's foam tape, a gob of adhesive, etc. used to attach.

Chip I think it's foam tape by looking at mine. There is a small gap behind the handle. Your dental floss idea is brilliant. That's what I would try first.

We have replaced three. Used a hair dryer and plastic putty knife. I like the idea of dental floss let us know how that works.

If there's gap where it's attached, and there's a little room on either side, you should be able to cut it off, also.  Try one of those little extendable plastic-handled knives, the ones with the segments that can be broken off.  If you extend it out, and bend it slightly towards the scored lines (not away from them) then it's probably flexible enough to get in-between the parts.  Watch your pinkies, and wear safety glasses in case it breaks unexpectedly.

If you do the dental floss method, no safety glasses required.  :)
