Considering a '94 Lazy Daze w/ 350 Chevy: Advice PLEASE
I ran across a 1994 23.5 ft rear bath with solar panels and a 350 chevy engine for $15,900. Looks great, but still have a test drive and to my mechanic this Wednesday. The price seems right for Portland, OR, but does anyone have recommendations/ suggestions esp. concerning the engine? Thanks, Rick

The late Chevy 350 V8s were an improved engine, with a decent fuel injection system, couple to the durable 4L80E overdrive transmission.
We came close to buying a new one in 1995. It drove decently but it didn't have a lot of power.
If a toad is in your future, this isn't a good choice.
Being a 1995, it has many improvements over LDs built ten years earlier, including the one piece nose.
It has a narrow body and will be easier to drive than the later wide-body LDs.

Do have it fully inspected and make sure to check the interior for leaks and rot, it is 22 years old.
The roof should have beeb resealed at least once, have it inspected.

That asking price seems on the high side. Maybe it is in excellent condition. It doesn't leave room for spending anything on tires,  repairs or upgrades, unless the total cost is not a big concern.

Or, the value of older LDs in general has escalated quite a bit in the last two years. That would make me happy.

Good points on the replacement parts.

There is 'hope' that older, well maintained LDs are becoming more valuable due to the simple fact that there are less of them on the road each year. LD's production numbers are very low and the fleet of antique LDs is shrinking fast as they finally  wear out, rust out or rot away. Combined this with an increasing desire of the retiring baby boomers for RVs, especially highly rated LDs and you have a seller's market.
Any increase in value is probably going to be small but having a sought after RV isn't a bad thing. It makes it more worthwhile to maintain your rig, knowing you will get a fair price for it, down the road.

Thanks Larry and Paul. I am having it inspected this week, and if it passes, the owner has accepted 1k less at $14,900. We will not be towing anything.
