"Deisel" 🤦🏼‍♂️

The only thing I remember from my grammar classes is :

"I before E, except after C and except as in words such as neighbor and weigh"

Con- It's a diesel. Noisy and smelly. Low power. Expensive fuel.
Pro- Just about nothing.
The diesel LDs were very disappointing.
The power is low, less than the V10 gas engine. The diesel's turbocharged engine is lacking an inner-cooler, so the boost can never be anywhere near as high as the similar Ford inner-cooled diesel pick-up engines. That severaly limits the power and torque that diesels are supposed to have. There is no cure or aftermarket solution.
It does gets two or three more MPG, nice to think about as you slowly ascend a steep mountain grade.
Diesels provide little engine braking unless an exhaust brake is added, not nice to think about as you are descending a steep mountain grade.
The generator is propane powered. Since the propane tank isn't very big, you only have few hours of operations before the tank runs dry. Not the best choice for boon docking.
When diesels need work, they are expensive to work on, if you can find someone who will work on it.
I doubt if LD sold very many of them.

Never mind the great potential for wood rot from water intrusion.

My brother bought a new 1984 chevy with that 6.2  liter diesel. It was beyond underpowered. He'd had it a few years. Then dumped it after blowing the head gasket. Those old diesels are not like the duramax or power strokes that are out now. I would imagine in the heavier motor home it would be as underpowered as the chev 350's are if not worse.
