Re: Something new to worry about Reply #2 – January 04, 2017, 11:16:19 am When my kids were young, my son caught a nice size gopher snake and was playing with it in the camper and the damned thing got away from him. For about a month we would open some drawer i the camper and find the gopher snake inside and it would quickly slither back behind the drawers to continue its habitation in the camper woodwork. It was kind of fun, although I worried about the snake not having any food.We eventually caught it and it became a long-time family pet. We named him Rudy. Incidentally, we didn't get rodents in that camper.Said son earned a BS in Biology and continued with graduate work in herpetology.Harold 3 Likes

If you visit Canada, it will have a bonnet.While doubtful a snake could enter through an LD's ventilation system, there is a pathway for air to enter and, if the screen or guards were missing, a small snake could enter. We are lucky our poisoness snake are mostly large and couldn't get through places the small red-bellied black snake can. He caught a gopher snake and moved it into his humble trailer\ranger station for mouse and rattlesnake control during one of his summers as a seasonal ranger at what was then Arches National Monument back in the late 50's. Like Harold and his family, he wasn't the least bit concerned about sharing his small space with the snake. Both benefited from the arrangement.
