Removable table on 24' TK
I'm working on the 1997 TK I just bought and was wondering if there is a recommendation for making the hinged table so it can be removed when not in use rather than folding up.  I searched and saw a discussion on this but didn't see anything about an alternative hinge system that would allow this option.

Thanks for any ideas.

I don't have a solution for a removable hinge system - sufficient clearance between the table and the hinge attachment points on the wall would be an issue with a "demountable" hinge - but this website appears to have just about every hinge in existence; maybe you can get ideas from the product listings:

If you table is like the '88 MB I would be tempted to Flip the wall slots, flip table hooks,  and remove the swing bar.  the '88 MB table leg is a some hat adjustable.  The '88 MB has cleat for the low position if you want the make the bed.

The older LD's had removable tables and used a bracket design similar to this, two per table:

Sea-Dog Removable Table Brackets - Stainless Steel - Chair & Table Hardware...

Yes, that is what mine look like.  The table will likely have to move up one table thickness as it is likely no wall structure exists to move the wall brackets down.

I looked at the floor plan of the current MB and didn't see a fold-down table between the couches pictured in the layout; does the MB have a fold-down table there?

The "Sea Dog" removable table supports look like a good option for the TK's "up or down" table; thanks for the reference.

The TK's table set-up is one feature of the floor plan that I have never liked; up, it blocks the view out the rear window, and down, it's difficult to reach the rear sections of the upper cabinets and almost impossible to reach into the upper cabinet. I understand the reason for the design, of course, and after 13 years, I'm used to it. I still find it awkward and inconvenient, but I've never come up with a better solution.  :(

It has been an option on the MB in the past. I had it installed in our last two MB's, the last was a 2014.

Oops, I should have said a "stealth option".

Several great ideas.  I'll look further into the channel solution shown on Tweety's website.

I've also thought about modifying the existing hinge to make the hinge pin removable but holding the table to slide the pin in would not be a one-man job.

Joan,
I guess the mothership forgot to tell us the dinette table moves up and down to make a bed!

Greetings, when we ordered the Silver Fox, 2015 MB, we specifically requested the table in the back like the ones we had seen on the 24. After "some" discussion, Todd agreed, and we absolutely love it! We put it up only when we are making up the beds. Other than that, it provides a second work space. We use it for almost all meals so that we have the lovely view and can use the dinette table for additional food preparation space. Having that second space makes it easier for 2 people on a longish trip to have space to spread out. I believe that the drop down table is now a requestable option for the MB. It does require extra blocking in the back wall, but it also comes with a table extension which enables you to set 4 very comfortably and 6 if good friends. We find it really helps. The extension goes into a bracket in the wardrobe, neatly provided by LD.
Cheers,
Jean and Ian
