As we are heading to Yellowstone in July, I'm afraid we will have to pass as I have yet to retire. That being said, some folks may prefer this method: https://youtu.be/Y-L0eRgzxE0Although, it'll have to be on a different carrier.Kent

That won't happen in future generations with life on cell phones, etc. I once found a picture of my dad's mother, with other girls in bloomers & ginormous bows...the 19-aught-whenever basketball team at Missouri Wesleyan College...it gave me a whole different perspective on my long-gone Mema. Reply #27 – November 23, 2016, 01:14:36 pm Kent, It seems the swath across the country was sorta diagonal from the Pacific NW down into the Carolinas, so perhaps you'll be in an area to enjoy the eclipse from a different angle. Have a great time at Yellowstone--I was there in about '66 with my parents & sister...someday I'll head back that way with LDy Lulubelle.Lynne

Digital does have the advantage of recording the date, and today, the GPS location. Many old prints get stored away without any way of knowing when they were taken or where. When my mother was still alive, we, along with her sister, went through many old 'Brownie' camera photos and were unable to identify most of the people, due to small print size. After using a home scanner, set on the highest resolution, we were surprised how fine the grain size was, the blow-ups were very clear, enabling mom and my aunt to identify many a forgotten relative. If you have old photos, try scanning them and keeping the useful ones on a disc. When my parents past, a few years back, my brother became the curator of my Mom's "History Hallway". For many years we would walk down the hall and pause looking one way and the next at the many generations of our family. "Oh! I remember when I was that young" or "Who's that"? We would say as we examined a funny hat or a crooked smile. Now days, my brother lives a thousand miles away. Going through the shoe boxes of old Polaroid's and such he will scan some highlights and fly them through the ethers to my sister and me. If digital photography didn't exist, my DB would be on his own with our family archive. Now, he can share our heritage all over the planet. Can't get much cooler than that. And so, I share with you, dear family, LDO a few vintage photographs from my family achieve during this Thanksgiving season.Enjoy.Kent 2 Likes
