Fuel Pump questions on 92 Lazy 26'
I have a 92 Lazy Daze with rear chairs/ bed setup mid bath.

Pretty sure my fuel pump is DOA from ethanol gas and non use. I am wondering If I can access the pump through the floor?
I do my own maintenance  and have the tools and equipment but the tank is full and my autolift is not big enough to put the RV on.
Just curious if anyone else has done a fuel pump?

The only to way get to it through the floor is to cut a hole and this group has been vocal in the past that this is a bad idea. So if you are trying to sell I wouldn't go that route. How have you narrowed it down to the fuel pump. If you can't hear it run for 5 seconds or so when you turn on the key you might try beating on the tank. I have burned gas that has sit that long without any real issues.

Had to drop the tank on mine to get the fuel pump, I have done a lot of work on the coach, but I would not cut the floor to access this. A full tank of gas is a small hurdle if you are willing to either cut the floor or drop the tank. Once the tank is out all the crud is easy to evacuate.

I too am curious what the signs are that makes you sure it's the pump? Mine was a preventative measure that was initiated when the rig stopped running due to a clogged fuel filter. I also found a bad ignition switch can act like a bad fuel pump.

My fuel pump has not been the problem, but, the fuel gauge works only after driving for @ 100 miles. If I stop running the engine until the next day, I must drive for a couple of hours before it starts to function again. I'm guessing it's the sender unit on the fuel pump. Any other guesses? Any thing I should try before dropping the tank and replacing?

Dale,

I found this YouTube video on a '93 e350 club van.

Perhaps it can answer some of your questions.

Good luck.

Replacing the fuel pump is an expensive,  involved job. Change it only if you are certain it or the sender is bad
With a Factory Service Manual, you should be able to find the fuel pump electrical plug and determine which connections are for the fuel level sender.
Once found, the resistance of the sender can be measured with a multimeter.
The sender should have a resistance within a certain range, as specified in the FSM.
If the resistance is within range, suspect the fuel gauge.
If the sender is out of range or not showing any resistance, it's probably the sender.
The problem could also be caused by a poor electrical connection.
How many miles are on the fuel pump

Larry. I've got 120k on my 1991, 460 ford. I've put the last 30k on it and I've no records showing it was changed prior to my purchase of the vehicle.

Is it possible to check the resistance at the gauge in the cab?

If you can find the right wires to test.
If you get no reading, you still will not know if it is the sender or a wiring problem.
Best to start at one end and work toward the other end.
You are lucky your 1991 has a traditional fuel gauge, not one controlled by the engine's computer, the wiring is more straight forward and not confused with other electronics.
