Flo Jet Macerator & Valterra Flush King
Ok so maybe I'm crazy about my LD, but not so much about waste removal.

I've used my Valterra Flush King several times and have good results. It's especially successful if I perform the "doody" at the campground dump prior to departure for home (obviously).

Once home, the agitation of the water in the black tank has had a chance to do some serious work on what's been left behind during the final campground clearing and the return to home base. That's a good thing.

This morning I was pondering whether or not it would be feasible to connect the Flush King and the Flo Jet Macerator together to facilitate that final cleansing.

My bucket brigade to my back yard clean out is laborious so the Macerator would be a huge improvement. The Flush Kung would be useful (as well as a toilet wand) to cleanse the black tank until the next trip which usually is several weeks away.

So wadda ya think? Good idea to use the Macerator and the Flush King in unison or am I taking this too far?

Go ahead and do it.
We dump at home often, using the macerator built almost twenty years ago, before the prepackaged macerators were available.
A Flush King was cut in half and adapted it to the pump. It's used , along with built in-tank flushers.

Many floorpans have tanks that are not adequately flushed using a Flush King.
It cannot shoot water straight into a holding tank if the tank's drain pipe has bends and /or turns.

There are no dump stations within 20 miles of where I live, so I would use a macerator for "home dumping" in a heartbeat if there was a cleanout available. My house has no cleanout in the sewer line, and neither do any of the houses on the street. There are two cleanouts on the whole street, located in other people's driveways, and one in the front yard of a house built a year ago. (Using the washing machine drain is not an option.  ;) )  I looked into having a cleanout installed; not only does one have to navigate the local bureaucracy (with no guarantees of getting a permit), but also the HOA and plumbers who refuse to do the digging necessary to access the lines.

No home dumping for me; bummer.  ;)

I've got a clean-out just off my front porch...

Alas, it is over 50 feet away from my RV drive and I would have to snake the hose over, under, around and through my landscaping in order to utilize it. All the more reason to dump at the last opportunity before leaving my last campsite.   :'(

Thanks Larry and Joan,

Joan I feel your pain. Fortunately for me I was able to install the clean out on my own when I replumbed and removed the old clay pipe running from the back of my house. No inspector. Just me and my Dad.

Larry. Thanks for the go ahead . Just wondering if the Flo Jet plus the Flush King may, when combined, create undue stress on the black tank connection. Maybe I should make a cradle to support the Macerator.

Fortunately for me, I have the RB so the Flush King can do a pretty good job of getting adequate flow to the tank.

It's nice to be able to look directly into the RB toilet. Suppose if I dropped my keys down there I could still manage  to fish (or flush) them out.

Flo Jet it is then. A bit more than $200 on Amazon from the right vendor. Quite a bit more from others.

Hmmm...Christmas is coming. Wonder what Santa will bring me this year?  ;D

Hmmm...

What a shame. I've managed to run PVC under my sidewalk to my side yard using a hose with a jet attachment and two seperate sizes of PVC to flush out the earth.

Worked really well and pretty straight forward. But there's the rub...straight forward. Could be hard to navigate your landscaping in that manner. Oh well.

Someone could make a killing by providing a Mobile Flush Service (MFS).  :o

Hi Kent. I've been using a 'Sewer Solution' for about 16 years now. My cleanout in the driveway is about 10 feet away, slightly downhill from my black tank, a little uphill from my gray tank outlet. Only two moving parts and uses water to pump out, and flush the tank. I put a clear extension on so that I could see what was happening, and to put less wear and tear on the mounting ears. It takes less than a minute to dump each tank. (the twin king 23.4 has small tanks) It will pump slightly uphill. For really long runs and more uphill, the powered macerator is the best choice, but the 'Sewer Solution' works for me. RonB

Joan, that is surprising that there is no cleanup at your home.  Most building codes require them, as they are so valuable in case of a clog.  My house had two - one at the back corner below the slab that led nearly flat straight into the drain under the bathroom, and one in the front yard, vertical, where the main drain emerged from the house.

Hi Ron,

Sewer Solution looks promising. I have two approaches to dumping while at the homestead. From the driveway out front where I park the rig (the preferred location) or along the street side of the house closest to the clean-out (corner lot).

The Flo Jet would work well for the drive way while the Sewer Solution would do well along the side as it is about 25' from the clean-out.  Just really depends on availability of street side parking when I get back in town.

It's good to have options. Thanks for providing an alternative. I put the SS on my eBay watch list. Quite a bit less $ than the Flo Jet.

After many, many years I finally got my dream. Built a carport for my baby with a built in dump valve. Had to cut the driveway for the line to connect to the main sewer line from the house.  I love it so much I may never move!

"...finally got my dream...I may never move!..."

Elizabeth,

So dreams do come true.

I've been dreaming of an awning that I can retract when not in use. I've drawn some simple plans, but the city planning and permit department here may balk at my idea.

I'll be heading down there soon with plans in hand.

Dream on dreamers.

Jon,

I know exactly what you mean. Prior to ordering our LD, I had driven all over town and talked with many residents who have RV's parked at their homes.

After several months of parking our LD in the driveway, I received a letter from our local code enforcement agency. Someone had complained of "an oversized vehicle" parked in my driveway.

A quick call to code enforcement settled the issue. I was even given the civil code in case anyone made a further complaint.

Exactly why I will check for awning regulations before I make that move.

Some people, huh?

Lucky us, we had a local RV shop install the Camco quicky flush on our black tank. Then we didn't try it out until after we moved out of town. I don't think they actually sealed it properly (or at all, from what I can tell by looking at it), because the results from the first time we used it were ... uh ... not what we hoped for. Should have had them demonstrate it to us before we left their yard I guess.

Anyone self-install one of these? Any tips on making it spray the water INTO the tank where it's supposed to go? Any way to just remove the damn thing and plug the hole without losing the spray head into the black tank and cause even more problems?

I have install many of these, what's the problem?
The flusher should be screwed and glued into the tank, with a hose fitting on the back, that hooks up the suppled hose. It isn't a difficult install to do right.
How about a photo or two to show the problem.

Yippee!

Using the LDO link to Amazon just now, I found a Flojet Macerator for $202. With free shipping on my Prime account I was able to get it for $220 (taxes ya know).

After checking the prices on Amazon and EBay, this seemed like a good time to jump on board the Flojet boat. 🚣

Can't wait to hook it up to my Flush King and give it a whirl .

It's arrived.

It rained this morning in Sunny Southern California (at least in my neck of the woods) and with it the promise (albeit brief) of water.

With that also comes three muddy cars and Lake Newton. 😜

So while the drizzle fell, I soaped up my DW's car and mine. Climbing the LD ladder with hose in hand I feared the worst (I've been so busy at my job's that the LD roof had not been seen for almost 2 months). Oh my, what a muddy mess.

I proceeded to hose and wipe down the roof and escort Lake Newton over the Falls. Quick as a wink, the roof sparkled once again.

While putting the final rinse on the coach with the rain coming down, a van pulled up out front. I noticed a young lady exit its cab and caught a glimpse of what??? Is that an Amazon logo on her shirt? Yes!

I'm so excited. Like a kid in a candy store, I wait as she comes my way. She hands me a package. Finally my dream has come true. My Flo Jet Macerator has arrived. It's interesting to be so elated over such an item, but I was.

The rain continues to fall and I enter the house. "Honey! Look what I've got".

Film at eleven.

Some of us don't have cleanouts because we're still on septic. In a pinch it's macerator & garage utility sink

Those of us on septic tanks are just as likely to have clean outs as those on sewers.  If you're not the original owner of the property they can be elusive to find as they can get covered up by dirt or shrubs.  A plumber who is good at roto rooting drain lines can usually find a clean out if any exist.

Knowing the location of your septic tank is good information to know and will also help your plumber in locating clean outs.

I lived in a house with a septic tank for years and was involved in the construction business.
There are a few clues that can help locate the code required clean-out.

First of all, it's almost certainly on the side of the house where the baths are located.

1) during a hot summer with little rain, the thin soil under the sod over the tank lid doesn't hold enough moisture to keep the grass as green as the rest of the lawn. Look for the light colored green grass. That's the tank. Then with a probe, locate and follow the 4" line back towards the house.
OR
2) using a metal probe, start where a bathroom is adjacent to an exterior wall and probe down, depending on the construction type, from 6" to a foot below the soil. Somewhere along that wall you are almost certain to hit the 4" discharge line. Typically, all baths will tie into that one discharge line. Typically; not always, but most always. Now get your shovel and dig. The cleanout most likely is within a foot of the side of the house.

If the house is quite old, the discharge line may be cast iron. A metal detector, if you have one, might find it for you.

Have fun.
Ed

Thanks for the info--something else to look for when the deck over the septic access is rebuilt.
