2002 LD in washington state
Saw this add this morning 2002 Lazy Daze M26 CLASS C Class
I know these are few and far between in this area so thought I would share if anyone was looking for one.

Maybe that's the reason for the "optimistic" asking price!  ;)

Mine says 15000 gross trailer weight and 1,5000 lbs tongue weight. :P   More than my normal GCWC, so I can tow another 23' LD. 8)   right ...Judie.

So Craig, have you posted any pics of the frame that hitch is attached to?  If so, can you point me to them? I thought I saw a hint of a full-size frame extension.  Interested in details...

Thanks,

Been away from the forum for a while, so this is a belated post. When I had my scooter rack installed, I had Eckharts Hitch & Welding also install a beefier hitch. They used the the welded frame extensions they installed for the rack to also carry the load of the new hitch. The hitch no longer attaches to the bumper. According to Eckharts, the hitch will accommodate 1,000 pounds vertical weight and 10,000 lbs tow. Of course, that's more than the rest of the rig can manage, so it is fantasy capacity. But, one clearly can get a stronger hitch setup fabricated. -- Jon ('06TK "Albatross")

Jon, thanks for your post.  Would it be possible to post a picture or two of the underside?  I'm a few thousand miles away from your hitch resource...

The Ford upfitters manuals have chapter and verse on how to extend the frame, either mid-vehicle or at the tail end.  I'll be providing that as the primary reference for the welder.  I do understand that the capacity "increase" does not translate to actual towing capacity of the vehicle itself.

Thanks in advance for any additional info.

Chip, when you are done, please start a topic on this subject- it seems you are going at it very carefully. I for one would like to see the results as a kind of "state of the art" posting.
Thanks!

Chip, I'll look for some photos I took years ago, probably stored on an old laptop. Failing that, I'll take some new ones next time I visit the rig (in storage) for inclusion in a "new topic."  -- Jon

Yes, I will start a new thread on the topic as my research progresses.  I'm considering a couple of different options.  Jon, I'll message you when I launch that topic.
