Upgrading the shower faucet
Wouldn't you know it - holiday weekend, hottest day of the year and the shower diverter gives up the ghost. Rather than going for an RV-specific faucet, I'd like to go to Lowes or the local hardware store for a complete replacement.

Can anyone make a recommendation for an inexpensive faucet that will work in a 2000 31 footer?

You are probably stuck with an RV style shower faucet. I have never seen a home style faucet that would work.
If the original lasted 16 years, a new one should last the rest of your LD's life.
Why reinvent the wheel?

...because sometimes, some of us just can't help ourselves.   ;D   My parents are gone & I now live in the home they built in 1988 with everything necessary on the main floor for those of us anticipating the benefits of no stairs (five minutes from where I raised my kids in a perfectly adequate 1963 model with numerous stairs).  Twenty+ years ago one of my mother's neighbors (older than me/younger than my mother) told me, in a genuinely kindhearted way "It makes me tired just to watch your mother out in the yard."  ;D Anybody who knew my Little Red-headed Mama would have instantly seen the humor, 'cause she went at everything like she was killing snakes.   :)    This spring I was out digging dandelions  & I thought of that comment; not too long after the thought floated through my brain, that same gal drove by, stopped, we chatted & had a good laugh as I shared my recollection & concerns about the effect of DNA.   :-[   ...though I hate adding chemicals to the environment, I finally gave up & bought some dandelion spray.   :-[

I'm not certain what part DNA plays in yard work, but I do know a thing or two about upgrades and dandelions.

Mostly, though, dandelions. Having spent weeks digging up my front yard with a shovel and turning it over twice, I was determined to have the perfect lawn.

Removed the old cast iron sprinkler system and installed a new PVC system on my own. My lawn was a beauty.

Eventually, the dandelions started to appear. On my hands and knees I went pulling each pretty little beast out by the roots, one by one.

I had a good idea where they were coming from as their pretty yellow siblings lived contently up wind in my neighbors yard.

One day, as the kids next door blew dandelions and made wishes
and the little white dust balls blew toward my yard, I explained to them that some of us consider them as weeds. The kids ran off without a word.

My dear wife explained that she made wishes on dandelions as a kid too. I remarked that I did as well and no doubt was the consternation of my downwind neighbors. Kids, huh?

I still pull them out by hand from my yard, but now as I see them in the wild along the roads and in campgrounds, I enjoy their simple beauty a little bit more.

Just not so much in my own yard.

DNA, on my part, has to do with too often either doing things the hard way or re-inventing the wheel.   :-[

Ya got me with the sprinkler system, Kent!   You were waaay more energetic & committed than I'll ever be, though I've used the shovel to turn over several flower beds because it didn't seem a big enough space to need the tiller--'til my back was yelling "What did you do & why did you do it?"  ;D   Some folks in this neighborhood have sprinkler systems, but Dad just had this cute little tractor that travelled along the hose, though it's probably not been used in 20 years. 

For years I said I had a better use for money than spending on water/chemicals/fertilizer (the dog seemed to do just fine there) for grass (especially since only turfgrass is a commercial product in Missouri   ;) )...in fact, I once looked for a local 4-H kid doing goats as a fair project, hoping I could borrow the goats to munch down/fertilize my yard--then I moved five minutes north.   :-[    ...and I've blown puffballs as my Little Red-Headed Mama fumed.  Funny thing, after moving here, was how much more noticeable the puffballs were (bright yellow polka dots on green are actually kinda pretty, but those puffballs standing proudly erect on their stems seemed to be taunting me,  :-[  but I don't notice them along the roadways or in the pasture out at the farm).

A thought - diverter sink faucets are common in many modern hotels in Europe. You might check with european brands to see if something can be ordered to fit.
