Daytime running lights May 01, 2013, 11:09:15 am Yahoo Message Number: 138795I understand that daytime running lights are factory installed in Canada because its the law. Here in the good ole safe USA it is an option if one factory orders their vehicle. I know that the newer Ford LDs daytime running lights can be enable easily with a laptop computer plugged in to the chassis software. Has any member here had this done by their trusty Ford dealer?
Re: Daytime running lights Reply #1 – May 01, 2013, 03:08:06 pm Yahoo Message Number: 138805Good news. Fritt's Ford in Riverside, CA was able to activate the daytime running lights feature on my 2011 LD. This an important safety feature IMO. Before now when I turned on the headlights for daytime driving the dash lights would dim. With sunglasses on I could not see the information control feature. Ford dealer hooked up to the IDS and enabled lights. Simple - charge $47.50. James2011 TK with Fiat Abarth toad
Re: Daytime running lights Reply #2 – August 20, 2016, 12:34:12 pm I am interested in activating the daytime running lights feature to our 2010 LD. Assuming I could have this done at a Ford dealer as described in message 138805, what lights would come on for day time driving (e.g., the parking lights or low beam headlights)? Would the LD installed lights on the coach body also come on? Also, what does "IDS" stand for?Paul H.
Re: Daytime running lights Reply #3 – August 21, 2016, 09:21:57 pm Headlights on low beam. When you put the E-450 in park they go out. Only come on when in D 3 or 2

Re: Daytime running lights Reply #5 – August 22, 2016, 07:52:14 pm See my post above. I had my DRL enabled at my Ford dealer in Riverside, CA. Cost at the time was $47.50. After they were enabled I discovered they only come on during the day when the LD is in Drive or 3 or 2. Low beam.James
Re: Daytime running lights Reply #6 – November 14, 2016, 11:48:02 am I had our 2010 MB into my local Ford dealer last week. I asked about having the daylight running light feature activated. The service manager was familiar with this procedure. However, when I picked up the rig he told me that when they connected to the onboard Ford computer, the option to activate the daylight running light feature was not available. Apparently activation only works for a Ford E450 newer than 2010.Paul H.
