Follow-ups Re: Spare tire cover Spare tire cover October 24, 2010, 09:40:26 am Yahoo Message Number: 117721I recently purchased a 1992 22' LD. The bolt(nut) which holds the spare tire cover in place seems to be stripped. It turns but will not back out or tighten. The cover is somehow firmly attached. Any suggestions on how to remove the bolt/nut?

Re: Spare tire cover Reply #3 – October 24, 2010, 01:01:46 pm Yahoo Message Number: 117724The nut is not really stripped. What's happened is than the stud or bolt is no longer "fixed" within the LD's skin and is thus free to rotate with the nut and this is preventing the nut's removal. First try inserting a putty knife under the tire cover to push hard against the bolt. The goal is to prevent if from turning as you try removing the nut. If this doesn't work, spray some penetrating oil, just a bit, between the tire cover and nut - - you are trying to get the oil into the nut/bolt interface. Then try the putty knife thing again.bumper
