Does anyone have any experience with the RV Sani-Con tank emptying system? Their webb site at
www.emptythetanks.com has a very interesting display of their product.
Seems to be very neat and clean. Just wonder if it cleans the black tank well enough.

Lanny, I don't have any experience with their product, but it looks like it *could* help, as can the Sewer Solution, other macerator pump devices, or one of the black tank rising wands.
The advantage seems to be that it uses gray water instead of fresh to do some additional black tank flushing.
A
drawback might be that the refill of the black tank is "passive", with gray water simply backing up into the black tank, and stopping when the fluid levels in the two tanks are equal. This could help a little, but would seem to require that both tanks be mounted more or less at the same level, or if not, at least of similar capacity.
It also looks as though it requires that both the black tank and the gray tank dump through the same outlet. At least one LD model has separate dump outlets for gray and black tanks.

Hello Neighbor,
Your points are well taken.
I will be picking up a 30' IB 4/13/01. It has the joint dump outlet. Not sure of the relationship of tank location.
I really like the part of the Sani-Con about not having to worry with washing the dump hose, and storing the bulky hose.
If I have read the latest posts correctly, it seems that the flexible toilet wand works ok with the 30' mid bath. Is that your understanding? If that is so, I would think that a good washing with that every couple dumps, in addition to the Sani-Con might keep things clean.

Lanny, Based on what I've seen so far, I would say that there's more sizzle than steak to the Sani-Con equipment. That is, it seems quite expensive for what it does for the user, which is simply to pump out and grind up the output of the holding tanks.
The business about using gray water to slightly rinse out the black tank seems to be entirely procedural in nature, and not attributable to the Sani-Con pump equipment as such.
If both tanks were of similar size and mounted on about the same horizontal plane, all you'd need is a way to temporarily block the main dump outlet while (after dumping the black) you first opened the black, then the gray dump valves, letting the gray tank contents flood into the black tank. (I personally would not welcome this sort of "cross-pollination" between the black and gray tanks.)
IMHO, the Sani-Con approach seems to be, "Come up with a new, different and more involved approach to dumping, then devise some expensive equipment to make it easier and cleaner."
Since the usual dumping procedure calls for dumping black first, then gray, this takes care of rinsing the black stuff from the hose.
Admittedly you're still stuck with stowing the slinky-type sewer hose.
But also check out the SewerSolution, which does pretty much the same functions as the Sani-Con. The SewerSolution doesn't require any electical power, but does require a pressurized water source in order to work properly. The biggest plus (IMHO) is that it costs about 1/5 of what a Sani-Con will set you back...
Sani-Con and SewerSolution aside, I would guess that the flexible spray wand will work fine with your 30' IB, just as it is reported to with the 26.5 MB that we have on order. The LD MB commode has a jog in the drain path, giving only indirect access to the holding tank. If your 30' IB has more direct access, you may not actually need a flexible rinse wand.
