:'( I am sad to say that our friend Steve "Lazy Bones" has passed away today. He was a good friend to me, we had many camping trips together, he will be missed.
I first met Steve on the road when I thought I had a major problem with my LD. He stopped by and asked if he could help. I had already called AAA for a tow to a repair facility. I was amazed that a stranger would stop by like that but it shows how close LD owners are. He stayed with me for many hours while help never showed up. Steve was camped down the road a bit and he told me that the owner of the campground had a tow truck and that he would ask him to come and help me. I had just travelled on the longest construction road I have ever been on. It was so long that there was two areas to the side that we had to stop and let opposing traffic pass by, then further down the road the opposing traffic was pulled over while we passed. When I finally go back on pavement there was a horrendous scrapping sound coming from under my LD so I immediately pulled over (on the wrong side of the road) and that is where Steve found me. Long story short the campground owner showed up, inspected the bottom of my LD and found that the reservoir for the jacks broke it's mounting bracket. He wired it up and I went on my way. FYI after 2 hours AAA called me back and said that they couldn't get to me for two days....
A while later Steve called me and we started camping together... RIP my friend, you will be missed

Thank you so much Jerry and Dave for sharing your stories about how you meet or came to know my dad. While my heart is braking 💔 this is something we have been preparing for. I have been blessed 👼 with having all around GREAT parents. They have shared their love of life and adventures in travel which I carry on today. In fact I’m taking the LD out camping the first week of April.
I know on the forum my dad could some times get under your skin but that what made him, himself. If any of you have more stories of how you met or just something you want to say I’d love to hear it.

Our sincere condolences, as well, for the passing of your father, Cynthia. You and I were camped next to each other a couple years ago at Morro Bay and you generously gave Victoria and I a grand tour of the Lazy Bones rig. Although I never personally met your father, we did communicate through the forum and I appreciated his forthrightness, and sometimes gruff sense of humor, and think of him fondly.
I lost my mom about a 18 months ago; it's tough to lose a parent. May God give you peace and strength during this time of transition.

My heart is breaking at this very sad news of Steve’s passing. He had great wisdom and a wonderful heart. He had always been a positive influence on me and I had always hoped to find myself in his presence. Sadly, I will have to wait a bit longer.
Remembering, as it has been said, that a moment in heaven is as a thousand years on Earth. These words can encourage us all knowing that our dearly departed loved ones will find our gentle touch on their shoulders in the blink of an eye.

Renee and I send our condolences to you, your father was a character who will be missed.
While we may have met him at an earlier March Morro Bay event, the first time I had a chance to sit down and talk with him was in 2007 at the Balloon Festival where you were volunteering with one of the hot air balloon crews.
Those were good times with the Lazy Daze bunch.
We had suspected his health was failing when he had not attended the Morro Bay events for the past few years.

Ray & I are so sorry for your loss. We first met Steve (& Jigs) in 2005 or 2006. I was secretary/treasurer for Northern Exposure of Lazy Daze (NELD) the northern CA/NV group at the time. If memory serves me, he attended his first outing with us at Napa, CA. He quickly became an important member of our group. He and I shared an interest in genealogy and had many great conversations sharing research ideas and successes.
May you find comfort in memories of better times.
