Title: Name Plate Replacement
Post by: Lazydaze2004 on November 22, 2024, 06:38:55 pm
Hi All,

We just bought a 2007 26.5 ft mid-bath and would like to replace the Lazy Daze nameplate next to the side door. It currently has a different family‘s name on it and we would like to have our own made. Is there anyway any of you have the name of the manufacturer or know how it would be possible to get a new plate made with our name on it?

We tried reaching out to Todd, but did not get a response.

Thank you so much!

Unless Todd has leftover blanks, I would assume that ship has sailed.
Many prefer not to have their name publicly viewable, self-included.
Similar plaques can most likely be custom-ordered through a trophy and award store.

I’ve often thought about removing the plaque too.    But what did you do with the 4 screw holes in the side of the LD?

Welcome to the Neighborhood and congratulations on your 2007 MB.  When you have time, perhaps you can post some pictures of your LD.

Congrats your new aquisition!

We didn’t want the original owner’s name on our rig either (even though they were very nice folks 😊). We purchased a blank plate from Todd and had it engraved with something that probably wouldn’t bother a new owner if we ever sell it.

Replaced mine with a new one from Todd in 2022.

Failing that route, I’d mask off the engraving with something and use a Dremel to carefully remove the original owner from the plaque.

Hi and welcome to the Lazy Daze Owners Group!  Sometimes called the FOLD (Fellowship of Lazy Dazers).
Ed, Paul, and Ed's son Steve Newton founded and ran Lazy Daze until 2022.  Todd Miller is living in North Carolina, so I don't know how he fared with Helene.  The depth of engraving isn't very deep, and a person with an engraver may be able to clean out an area just where the name is and insert a new name, or a  piece with a different phrase. Either your name or a generic phrase "Traveling Adventurers", lots of possibilities there.  If your name Really is Newton, that would get a rise out of most of us here! I can assume you aren't related?
And of course, if you can get a suitable blank plate, you can leave it un-engraved for the next owner.
The simple way is just to remove the plate and have the 4 stainless screws at the corners. The paint underneath should be in good shape.    RonB

You can also go the easy route and use your label maker.

Our plaque came off another rig, with the name "Drysdale" engraved. If anyone ever bangs on the door asking for Mr Drysdale, it will be obvious that it's a scam and to beware.
The plaque on the other rig was replaced with one engraved with "HappyCamper".

I doubt that many nonowners even notice the engraved name.
