Headlight restoration #4! Sigh. Just a little background first. New OEM highlights cost over $300 each and aftermarket cost about $135 each for our 2009 E450. I’ve been reluctant to go that route. So I’ve tried all kinds of remedies with a modicum of success. We’ve gotten about 2 years on some of our restorations.
I completed #4 today using a very complete kit from 3M, which I should have used years ago. This is the kit: Amazon.com: 3M Ultra Headlight Restoration Kit, Easy Heavy-Duty Restoration,... (https://www.amazon.com/3M-39195-Headlight-Restoration-Heavy-Duty/dp/B08745K56G)
I’m expecting at least 2 years of clear headlights from this 3M kit. Failing that AND I’m still upright, we’ll try the aftermarket headlights. There’s not going to be a #5!!
What else have we done in 110 degree weather other than stay inside? We cleaned our LD upholstery with a Woolite product which dried very quickly in this oven-type heat. The cushions look a bit brighter and certainly have that fresh smell that comes from the upholstery cleaner.
My project list is once again empty except for an annual vehicle inspection which costs $7.00 in Texas. That’s it from here.
