We need to remove the valance above the dinette table so we can remove the shade. We have to re-string the shade. I’ve a good idea how to remove the left and right valance. But we stuck trying to figure out how to remove the top one. So, how is the top valance held in place?
I’m guessing the cabinet has a false bottom and the valance is screwed to the bottom of the cabinet.
Secondly, has anyone been able to clean these factory original shades?

Hello Ron. We see the 3 screw heads holding the shade. But I’m guessing the top valance is screwed into the overhead cabinet from inside the cabinet, under the false bottom. We don’t see any other screw heads beneath the valance unless they’re under the shade. Have I muddled the water?
I removed and modified the valence in our '83, and as Ron said, it was screwed into the cabinet from below. The screw heads were buried in the valence material, so hard to see, but running your finger along underneath found the hard little bumps. Your '09 may be different, but screwing down under the false bottom seems very unlikely.

Hi Ed; Well I recently installed the repeater for my TST TPMS inside the false bottom of my back cabinet. My TK only has the back dinette. The screws holding the valence up were easily visible, but as Steve said the heads might be really hard to see. I had previously removed the inside floor of that cabinet to install a center ceiling light, and put covers on the backs of the better speakers I installed. Also LD put in screws instead of staples because I had the rear camera put in. It might be easy for you to remove that inside floor of your side dinette, so you could look for attaching screws of the valance. It seems that if you needed to remove the valance to clean it, that inside screws would be the hard way to do it, but then Lazy Daze might install it that way. RonB
Ron & Steve are correct which is as expected! We needed a flashlight and a mirror to see those screws. We’ll need to remove the valances because the shade is installed with both stables and screws. And we’re so relieved that we don’t need to remove the cabinet’s false floor. Phew 😅!!

Step #1 is complete and it was not difficult. We removed the valances and the broken shade. Margee does NOT and has NOT favored those window treatments. I’m okay with them. So now we having a “debate” about what to do with the valances. For what it’s worth, this has been a 6 year debate. The broken shade moved the debate to another level.
At the moment, we will probably keep the top valance and store the side valances. (Maybe the future owners will favor the Factory’s decorating style?) I must admit I like the cleaner and uncluttered look of the naked window.
We (I mean Margee) hasn’t decided if she’ll recover the top valance. I’m okay leaving it as is.
Question for the LDOF. Has anyone ever tried to clean the shade? We’d like to clean these 2009 shades.
For what it's worth, I'm with Margee. I ditched my midbath's valances soon after getting the rig. I didn't like them partially blocking the view.

Our date night was at the dining table restringing the shade. So tomorrow we’ll reinstall it and hope for the best.
I always knew RVing was relaxing by a mountain stream or lake … and RV repairs.
The deed is done. When these strings break again, we’re following Larry’s advice and do something other than pleated shades. Btw, Margee said “Andy is a man with good tastes.”
