I went from a 1995 to a 2021 so I'm not sure if this is normal or not but my roof has waves in it. The aluminum doesn't lay flat like my old LD did.
Well my '99 TK does that too. When it is cold the roof will lay flat. When warm it expands and 'waves' in the areas with no hold down screws (vents and such). I put the brackets, holding my solar panels, on in cold weather. The ends of the aluminum angles were rounded off at the corners, so there wouldn't be something strong and sharp against the roof sheet as it flexes.. RonB

It's strange to have this flex in the roof skin but on a sidenote... I do like the anti-slip texture paint they apply now.
My 95 roof was very slippery and best traversed on when dry.
You would expect 'waves' in the aluminum roof expanding with heat when secured in places to a wood frame. NOT doing this might have been an indication some attachments had come loose...
