Well, on the FaceBook group I saw this ad for a used Lazy Daze. 1984 Lazy Daze 22 ½’ Class C RV with Clamshell Roof Tent! - rvs - by... (http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/rvs/d/burbank-1984-lazy-daze-22-class-rv-with/7305502009.html)
I used the search function of the forum and no one has EVER talked about (as far as I could tell) a Lazy Daze with a rooftop tent. Anyone know the history?
Personally, I don't think I would like it...

uploading a photo of it here in case it gets lost once the ad is taken down.
however this must be custom made!
i wish I had that just for that extra space in the over an bed
Here are some photos of the pop top LD that were posted here a few years back:
This was not a custom model, but was not popular enough to be offered very long. The floorplan is also unique to this model.

Thanks for sharing!
I’d love such a feature as I find the cabover too claustrophobic, though I suspect it introduces a new leak vector.

If you look at the first pic Chris posted, you will see the access is NOT over the bunk, and the pop-up has its own bed. You do not get any extra bunk headroom, and you lose the ceiling hatch.

I think the value in owning this particular model is the rarity. Bragging rights, so to speak.

Too bad they no longer make this model. Love the layout.
I have seen this LD, when the top is opened, inside, it's similar to a pop-top on a VW Camper Bus.
LDs were smaller in the early days, the pop-top gave a growing family more room to spread out a little.

I went and looked at the 1984 rear corner bed. It was neat but had been sitting since 2018 but did pass smog. Very hippie inside. Swamp cool had not worked in "years".
The hatch was about 3 foot square and opened to a padded area. To use you plugged the opening with the hatch. That is when it got tight. Area was padded but I can not imagine sleeping there.
Talked to Mike yesterday and he sold for full asking price of 15k.
I am trying to load pix of inside.
