Title: Toad Protection
Post by: Ralarson on March 19, 2021, 06:44:49 am
Does anyone have suggestions on a rock guard or shield to protect the Toad while towing it behind the RV? I have a Roadmaster Falcon tow bar with the crossbar to attach it to.
Thanks,

Rick

I have been towing our Jeep Wrangler for 7 years without any protection and I have not experienced any damage.

I bought the Roadmaster tow Defender several years ago for protecting our Jeep Cherokee and it has served us well. Little or no paint damage on the front of the car above the connect point of the tow bar. If you happen to decide on getting one contact me and I will give you some tips on the installation.

That's been our experience also Ross. I have mud flaps, not sure if they protect the Jeep or not. They do reduce the slime that gets on the rear window in rain.

Our previous toad had rock chips galore on the REAR wheel wells. They stuck out more than the front ones.

I have a curtain type toad protector on my LD.  Have had it since purchase ten years ago.  It came with the RV when I bought it from original owner.  I tow a Jeep Wrangler.  Has done very well for us since we boondock mostly.  I see them on Amazon under Rock Solid Tow Guard.  Don't know if that is the brand on my rig though.

Rick,
I have a Roadmaster Rock Guard I have used for my Subaru Forester for the last 7 years. Pros: it does seem to do a good job protecting the grill and hood, no noticeable chips or dings. I have had one cracked windshield, but that might be more because of the cheap Camco windshield cover. Only takes a few minutes to put on or take off the three very heavy duty panels. Cons: expensive, bulky, and need a place to store after you are parked at your campsite (besides when you are back home). I hope this helps.
