We own a 2008 Jeep Liberty (4x4 trail rated) and would like to use it as a toad for our 2003 RB. The curb weight is 4300 lbs. I remember some LDOG members saying they have toads over the recommended 4000 lbs. I would like to hear opinions and about possible ways to beef up the towing gear before we spend the money to have it painted and set up to be “toad”. I got the Jeep new in 2008 and love it still, warts and all!
Thanks,
Linda C

This is just one link of hundreds shedding light and good advice on beefing up your LD hitch.
The "search" feature of the site is extraordinary! Thank you moderators.
Cheers!

Linda, The topic is thoroughly and exhaustively covered on this forum as well as The Companion (http://lazydazearticles.blogspot.com/).
If you want a tow bar, I have one. Yours for shipping. PM me.
I tow a 2012 Jeep Liberty (aka "Thirsty Girl"). Welcome to the fun.
I went to a tow hitch installer and had them beef up my hitch by installing some extra steel (with it's extra weight). I can handle up to 8000 lbs as long as I stay within my overall weight capacity limits.
I did have my fully loaded LD and Jeep 4 corner weighed afterward and I was good. I actually keep shedding weight the longer I have the LD as I remove items I don't really use.

Yeah, Tony all that and more is in The Companion. Thanks to Larry for finding it for me.
And BTW, "beefing" will not hurt, it's cheap to do, but really not necessary,

Glad to see towing a Jeep Liberty being towed by an LD - that's a great looking rig you have there Deb!
Thank you for your generous offer, Don. We are not yet sure what system we want to use, however.
Thank you all for your guidance. :D
