Low mileage isn't always a good determiner of condition. Has it been garaged or has it sat outside, unattended for long periods?
I would want to give a rig that age a very thorough inspection, it has been inactive for most of its life.
Even with low miles, the various seals still need to be maintained, as well as the chassis. The engine's hoses and belts should be changed, age causes as much damage as actual use. The brake system can develop problems with rust if the brake fluid has not been changed periodically.

For me that goes without saying...I stated it was a.fair price he was asking. It is up to the individual to do ALOT of research and inspect or having inspected. I know how to inspect an rv but many folks do not. I won't even look at an older rv at a low or high price if they do not have adequate maint records. It is best to walk away than buy a pig in a poke. When I see 20 year old rvs  with asking prices almost at the new purchase price I just walk away. I might be curious and call to see if they have had the roof resealed at the factory, new tran, new engine, new diff, new ac top and engine, new suspension, all new hoses, water pump, radiator....the dreaded spark plugs replaced...new fridge, new upholstery, carpet, vinyl.......because this is what the 2nd or 3rd owner is up against when buying...have 10 or 15k  in reserves for repairs....when younger I made the mistakes so many have made on this site....so it come from experience. ...but my advise is keep saving, do you research, get with a friend who has an rv watch them do maintenace . Learn all you can because it will be a learning experience...no matter how much you learn.

I am curious if the 2000 M26 listed in St. George Utah is actually a 31'. It looks like it is but is listed as a 26'. Does anyone know if the island bed was made in the 26 foot back in 2000?

It looks like a 31 to me.

The 26.5' IB was made up until 2005.

The model number M26, if correct, indicates a 26 ft. Multiplan. The dealer may be confused as it does look like a 30 ft. model.

It is a 30 foot island bed. The 26 foot island bed has the entry door right behind the passenger seat. The couch is a short couch that pulls out across the entry door. The shower is not as wide. At the foot of the bed the corners are not right angles, they are 45. There are some YouTube videos on the layout of the 26 footer with the island bed.

"I am curious if the 2000 M26 listed in St. George Utah is actually a 31'."

That rig is absolutely, without the least sniggling of doubt, a 30'IB and with the Teal/White exterior is nearly a twin of the one I own! The 31'ers did not come into existence until after my 2004.  8)

Here's an ad for a 22' rear bath.  Currently a 23.5 rear bath/ front lounge.  When compared side by side, proportionately they look exactly the same.  What is the 1.5' used for?  Longer couch, bigger sink, bigger bath?

That's for a different size chassis nose.  No difference in the house.

Post by: RonB on February 07, 2021, 05:10:42 am
No sign of a generator. Just a 'porta-potty' in the shower. The same chassis as my previous motorhome, a 1979 Dodge Sportsman.  Mine was a 1980 model year Lindy.  360 CID (5.9 liter) engine. Carbureted. Carter Thermoquad maybe. I replaced with a spreadbore Holley. (legal in California) Regular gas, about 7-8 mpg. This one at high altitude (Denver) could have had the metering jets replaced, and might need changing for lower or sea level operation.  Three speed Auto. There was an optional engine, the 440 CID. A bored out 360-3 engine.  Very powerful. I know that engine cover well. I had that motorhome for 12 years. (good times).  Easy to remove engine cover and good access to the engine.
It is amazing how little is changed compared to my '99. This is a TK. The sink surface is the same except this one has a stainless sink, I've got plastic. Upright removable propane tank. I've got an ASME horizontal tank.  4 burner stove, I've got 3. No mention of solar, batteries, LED lights, but the inside does look pretty good for a 40 year old MH.   As Linda said obvious water damage to the roof. It is unlikely to have dash air, or roof air, but that looks like a Rec-Air swamp cooler. The spring set made for a very stiff ride in back.
At $5000, lets say you could get it for $4000, it looks like it has been well taken care of (relatively speaking). Don't buy this unless you have experience as a DIY, don't mind working on the roof, and some time (make that lots of time) to do repairs yourself. Paying someone to work on it isn't a reasonable option. It could have many mechanical issues, but the Dodge chassis was pretty good. From a simpler age it was easier to repair. You would need to find an older mechanic.
Torque on the wheel lug nuts was spec'd at 450 foot pounds! (design of the lug nuts) and 'R' stamped into the lug screws on the driver side wheels. I was lucky, the wheels could take radial tires. Not many 16.5" tires around. First thing I would do is get a spare tire mount and spare lug screws and nuts. Both types.   RonB

I am always hesitant when I see a 20 year old RV with that low of mileage.  Sounds like it hasn’t been used much and may have some problem with leaky seals, etc. Then again it could be a real find if it has been properly maintained. I agree, priced way too high.
Title: Re: Non-member Classified Listings for 2021
Post by: Larry W on March 08, 2021, 01:53:52 am
Other than being 21 years old, built on a light-duty E350 chassis, and having a V10, with the well-known blown spark plug issues, it looks wonderful.
The 40K price tag is wishful thinking.

Perhaps contact the seller and they can provide more photos?  Could be a good deal but, as always, depends on how it’s been maintained.  Says it was stored indoors but for how long?  Being the seller is located at Point Loma (near the San Diego Bay), I would check carefully for rust issues underneath due to the marine environment.

Poor photos but enough to show ceiling leak damage on the driverside's, front corner. Very common in these rigs.
Swell masking job. Who knows what problems lurk in the murky corners?
All this for only 12K.

It's 34 years old, has a multipiece front cap that has or will leak, has a carburetor and three-speed transmission without overdrive, which wears the engine quickly.
This is a hobbyist rig for someone with a wide range of talents, are you qualified?
Did I mention it was 34 years old?

BTW, 18 years ago our 1983 22' FL sold for $8000.

How difficult is it to convert the entertainment center back to an overhead bunk?

Hi,  From what I have read here on this forum taking the entertainment center out would compromise the structural integrity.  We have this same layout with the entertainment center and like it a lot.  We keep the sofas pulled out as daybeds which leaves maybe 16(?) inches of walkway between.  We bought a smart TV that fits the entertainment center and it is comfortable to watch TV from the daybeds.  This would not be ideal if there were more than the two of us!

"How difficult is it to convert the entertainment center back to an overhead bunk?"

Extremely!

The way Steve Newton explained it to me was: "When we are in the construction phase for a coach that will have an entertainment center, the build technique is entirely different in the cab-over because it does not have to meet the weight requirements for a sleeping compartment."

So in essence, it was never intended to be a place to sleep, but to be used only for storage and TV and DVD, etc.   ::)

1970 Lazy Daze 18'
1970 Lazy Daze 18 | eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Lazy-Daze-18-Motorhome-Ford-Econoline-E300-Chassis-Museum-Quality/233946517481?hash=item36784c8fe9:g:lisAAOSwYnRgYU50)
Quite simply the finest Class C you will possibly see outside of a museum, this low mileage all original 1970 Lazy Daze 18' Class C Motorhome is ready for adventures!

Built on a Ford Econoline E300 Custom chassis with just over 31,000 original miles, she is ready to drive anywhere across the country.

This very early example of a Lazy Daze motorhome was discovered in Wisconsin, born out of the original family's desire to travel to NASCAR events in style. And after serving faithfully for many years, she was retired and put out to pasture and forgotten. It was then she was discovered and shipped to sunny Southern California where she underwent a careful restoration, mindful to retain her amazing originality while preparing her for a return to the road and to service as a family RV.

And originality is what you will find with this RV. The original 302 V8 motor does not drip a drop of fluids, she is tight and starts easily with the turn of a key. The motor and transmission have been serviced and updated where necessary. New carburetor, alternator, water pump, fuel pump, cap and rotors, wires and plugs. She shifts smoothly as her SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic transmission has not seen many miles, works as new. New tires and new brakes, new master cylinder and new brake lines stop her on dime safely.

No detail has been missed on this amazing rig: from the 16" dealer option Wimbledon White camper mirrors to the CB on the dash, to the very rare original Lazy Daze logo on the front of the cabin, she is a show winner and workhorse.

Interior updates include a new water pump, new hot water heater, new electric flush porta-potti, new upper cabin mattress. You will find the original floors, silk curtains, upholstery and paneling to be in superb condition. All original appliances are clean and work as they should. A propane Duo-Therm furnace keeps the main cabin very toasty on a cold night, the Dometic 2-way fridge gets very cold, and the stove and oven are in beautiful condition and work wonderfully.

There are two sleeping areas: above the cab is a very comfortable Nest Bedding queen size mattress and original ladder to access. The rear dinette folds into a full size sleeping area. The original room divider separates the the two sleeping areas for privacy. A generous bathroom with separate stand up shower makes for a very comfortable environment when camping for the weekend.

Water is supplied by either a city water connection or 20 gallon water tank and onboard 12v water pump. The hot water heater also runs off 12v and will provide a very nice hot shower. Two portable updated propane tanks are found in an easily accessible outdoor compartment and fuel the heater, fridge, stove and hot water heater. There is also a new deep cycle house battery which charges while the RV is running. Lights throughout the coach are both 12v and 110v so  you are never in the dark. And there is ample storage and a very generous closet. Under both rear dinette seats are doors to access the undercarriage storage or also access them by the outside doors.

There are many little things that you just don't find on modern coaches: from the original glitter linoleum, the glitter in the counters and the dinette table, the silk curtains, the combo spice shelf/fan/hood light, indoor outdoor thermometer, floral wall clock, magazine rack, etc. You can take her to a vintage car or van show, vintage camping event, or just live the RV life. Full awning and matching cabana included in the sale.

All work has been performed by a licensed mechanic and receipts can be supplied to the next caretaker of this amazing machine. So many little things! The vintage dual bumper mounted bike rack...RARE! The original leather seats; taken apart, new springs and foam, and carefully reassembled. New batteries, top of the line. A brand new NOS front grille was sourced, never installed until now. LED headlights, new brake and tail lights, power coated bumper, the list goes on.

Bid with confidence and jump in and driver her home.

Just about every part of an LD is structural, considering how LD screws and glues every interior cabinet or couch into the coach's framing, forming an extremely strong and stiff structure. This is the reason why so many older LDs, with rot, continue to be used, the excess strength keeps the body from falling apart...for a while.

Check history to see if it was stored inside/outside or covered.  Michigan winters can be hard on the flat roof due to snow load, rain and sunshine.  Since it is at top of Michigan, it gets a lot of snow.
Where were the original owners from?
Nice layout inside.
Is it fuel injected or carburetor?

Is it fuel injected or carburetor?

A 2000 LD has 305-HP, fuel-injected V10, it's big fault is the very real blown spark plug problem. Seen it happen too many times.
Blownoutsparkplug.com Ford Spark Plug Thread Repair (http://www.blownoutsparkplug.com) has recently installed full engine, spark plug inserts on three forum members pre-2004 LDs, all owners who plan on keeping them for a long time, a practice I definitely endorse for owner planning on traveling far away from home.
Installing inserts costs a third of what a new engine does. If you have an old rig that still is in good shape and plan on keeping it, give this consideration. Odds are a plug will blow someplace where there are no nearby shops willing to tackle the repair.
If the cost of the conversion frightens you, consider buying their emergency plug, used to seal the damaged spark plug hole until it can be repaired. The noise made by a missing plug is extremely loud.
Emergency Plug Kit (http://www.blownoutsparkplug.com/Plugkit.htm)

$32,000 for 2000 LD, all I can say is wow! The market is crazy.

Hi - I'm brand new here, I saw an ad for a 2003 26.5 MB with 88k miles for $20k which seemed like a good deal to me. The very few pics looked decent but it was already sold before I could find out specifics. It has me wondering though is that high mileage for a used RV? As a first time RV owner, who would be a full-timer with no mechanical knowledge, is that a bad idea even if everything checks out to be in okay shape and routinely maintained? My original plan was to buy new as soon as I could get on the list but the interior designer in me won't be able to refrain from painting cabinets and walls and covering everything I can. I thought maybe I should go used in that case so I don't deface a brand new LD

Hi Casalita; Welcome to the group, LDOF (Lazy Daze Owners Forum), or people wanting an LD, or that used to have one, or in betweeners.
A good average is 5,000 to 10,000 miles per year, so the 2003 at 18 years old is on the low side of miles. Any vehicle that old will have issues. 10 years old fewer issues, 5 years old, better. At 18 YO, condition is of utmost importance. How gently it was used, where and when it traveled, how it was taken care of etc. all factor into its present value. Color, floorplan, location and options affect how desirable it is to you, and only you can decide if that price is good.  $20k sounds 'in the ball park' and the fact that it sold fast is a good indicator that someone else thought it was a good price too. We don't know what the final sale price was. Maybe a lower price was negotiated. Usually the final price is about what the seller was asking for.  Good luck in your search. It is uncertain when the factory will start taking orders again, or how long the wait will be.    RonB

Welcome to the group, Casalita!  Regarding mileage, I wondered the same thing awhile back.  Check out this thread from four years ago.  It’s limited data but look at reply #18 for a chart on actual users average yearly mileage.  There are lots of other considerations beyond just mileage such as whether the rig towed another vehicle or trailer, how it has been maintained, etc. as Ron mentioned.

Thank you so much, this is very helpful! I never heard of LD, nor my Thor owning sister, and I stumbled upon them through a rabbit hole of RV research. I thought finally an exterior that is more "me". I was really interested when I saw they don't force slides upon you for a 27' but their website turned me off. I still continued to dig deep and kept reading about their quality and was more and more sold on them. I had no idea they have such a following and highly sought after! Hope to find a gem one day!

This LD was not at Morro Bay this year, I contacted the owners of the MB attendee and their LD is not for sale.
It's an odd  coincidence that two early 80's LDs, both blue and with pop-tops, are located in Burbank.
LD made very few of these models.

It's an odd  coincidence that two early 80's LDs, both blue and with pop-tops, are located in Burbank.
LD made very few of these models.

Thanks for clearing that up, Larry, as I wasn’t sure.  I briefly spoke to the gentleman at Morro Bay and he had mentioned they may be selling it so thought it might be theirs. Yeah, figure the odds!

There cannot be many old, blue LDs with a pop-tops, even rarer is finding two in the same town.
But you are right about the owner you talked with, they would like to upgrade to a newer RV.
It takes a lot of work and cash to keep a 40 year old LD operational and dependable.

I vote it's appropriate for this section as a fair warning to others because I'd like to know.
AND it makes me wonder how in the world he finds these LDs.  I'm wondering if he just drives around and makes an offer.

1992 Lazy Daze 22' Class C - $9,800 (Ouray)
1992 Lazy Daze 22' Class C - rvs - by owner - vehicle automotive sale (https://westslope.craigslist.org/rvs/d/ouray-1992-lazy-daze-22-class/7311890058.html)

1992 Lazy Daze RV. Lazy Daze Rv's are custom built for each owner, they are crafted and built in California. The cabinets are better quality then a standard RV, and the fit and finish details are superb.

Anyways, onto ours - named "Smoodie". If you buy it I'll tell you how it got its name.
We have owned Smoodie for 10 years. It has taken us all over the country. With its solar panel on top and its deep cycle batteries, we have been able to camp and boondock without the need of a plug in. It does have a plug in and that is the only way to get the A/C working, if you go to warmer climates.

We updated some of the interior, taking out the carpet and installing laminate wood floor - alot easier to clean. Installed a new water pump for more pressure. The cool thing is, the bathroom is big. Shower is decent size and toilet is a real toilet.

The Good:
Fuel injected Chevy 350 - gets 11mpg cruising at 65mph. New engine was installed right before we bought it, it now has 27,000 miles on it.
HD tranny - 4l80E overdrive
Nearly new tires all around - all terrain Load E
Solar Panel
A/C works
New Battery
Always taken care of and stored inside in the winter.

The stuff needing some attention:
Swamp Cooler - yes has both a swamp cooler- we never used and an A/C. The plastic shroud up top has broken and will need replacing at some point
Probably due for new deep cycle batteries, they work and hold a charge, and will carry thru with sun, but they are not a 100%.
Small power steeting pump leak, Drips when sitting over winter

I would not hesitate to get in Smoodie and drive anywhere, we have, all the way to Oregon and back, California and back, yellowstone, Arizone, and Misoorui and back. It has been so dependable and easy to use. The 22' gives just eneough room, but you can still park in a normal parking spot. The drivetrain is solid.

 LAZY DAZE 26.5
Style: E 350 CUTAWAY VAN
Body Type: 2DR
Drivetrain: RWD

We are third owners and went with the RV from California to Florida without any problem
1994 Ford with 86,000 original miles
Clean and well kept with remodeled aspen paneled rear Lounge plus a twin size bed with hinge that lifts for storage. A matching bed could be added opposite the one I put in and there would still be room for a recliner between the two.
    Rebuilt toilet with new seals
3x 80 watt solar panels on the roof with 6 deep cell 6 volt DC golf cart batteries
The solar set up allows for "boon docking" without AC power. Just add an inverter and you can watch TV and charge computer batteries for up to 6 hous every night. Sun recharges everything the next day automatically.
Cell phone signal amplifier with antenna
    Descent tire tread left
Wrap around tinted panorama windows in back, and large dinette window
Furnace works great, but we used a two setting Mr. Heater (4,000 and 9,000 BTUs), ran the propane hose outside(the access now plugged with cork at the entry steps) to a 5 gallon propane bottle for plenty of heat withour the noise and battery drain of the furnace motor (when boon docking). Plenty of radiant heat on the coldest days.
Easy to drive . basically a Pick Up Truck Chassis
Bonus storage in the Diamond Plate Aluminum Toolbox mounted to rear receiver hitch
Bike rack on rear behind tool box.
Every appliance works great. furnace, large fridge (cools freezer to - 10 below) and fridge portion to mid 30s on lower setting.
    Motor and tranny is strong
Brakes good at last tire rotation @ 82,000 miles
Lots of storage and plenty of inside cabinets
Already depreciated as far as it will go. can always get all your money back as Lazy Daze has a cult following. over a year's waiting list to buy a new one which will set you back well over $105,000 dollars
Queen size bed over cab. with ladder and good solid handles to hold on to when getting in our out
5 Gallon Propane bottle (in toolbox)
Roof does not leak. if and when it does just apply a few "caulking gun" tubes of self-leveling RV roof sealant along existing seams and vents, an easy two to three hour job
CB radio. for emergencies when out of cell service
    Great hunting rig
Cheap Living rig, free camping on BLM and Forest Service Lands
Original Sales Invoice from Factory to 1st buyers. and original owners manuals
Includes an 29 inch smart Sony TV. plays movies from DVD player
    New stronger reception TV antenna

Neither have I, without the overhead bunk, the owner is left with only one sleeping position, the pull-out couch. I guess it will work for one person or two very friendly people, the couch isn’t very roomy, even when pulled out.
The 23.5’ Fl, with an enterainment center, is not the most practical floorpan, IMO.

It seems that quite a few sellers don't know what they are selling, but it's not unusual to refer to a 23.5' as a 24' model. But, the unit described and pictured in the ad is a 26.5' Mid-bath.

JMO: I certainly don't condone seller scams (or scams of any type), but a buyer has the responsibility to educate himself/herself to avoid getting snookered.

The success of the current market for RVs, new and used, indicates (to me, anyway) that a whole lot of buyers are doing no homework on any part of what they're getting into and buying  POS at often grossly inflated prices based largely on impulse and marketing hype.

Scams and snake oil continue to flourish because they work.

YMMV, as always.

Well this one sure looks clean. It is on a E450 chassis so it has to be an '03 or newer. The internals look very much like my '99. I still like my working clock and the light switches.  The SB 3000i would be an upgrade item.  No mention of LED lighting.   Having no cabover sleeping area really makes the sleeping for 'one'.  'obo'  would put it the $25,000 range for me, but not my 'cup of tea' for the floorplan.   RonB

This home is a gem. The highest quality you could buy in 2000. Very well maintained. It has been a beloved part of our family. It is a self contained unit as well, and everything works just like it should. READY TO GO! There are some cosmetic defects such as sun faded paint, cracked window, tear in screen door, but that's it. No leaks, old or new, but I resealed the roof last year anyway. She runs and drives like a dream, very strong. I would love to answer any questions, just call or text Tom anytime.

.High output V-10 engine
.Rear lounge folds into a california king bed
. Queen bed upstairs
.Onan 4000 generator w/100 hours, like new
.Two new house batteries, $800 value
.16ft awning in good shape
.Can get 14 mpg, but usually gets 11 to 12mpg
.Real porcelain toilet
.Last year we had new brake pads, rotors, calipers, and lines done

There is noting illegal about flipping, it’s a business. Depending on the state and how many vehicles are sold each year, a flipper may be required to have used car sale license
It is up to the buyer to know what he/she is buying. As always when shopping for a used RV, let the buyer beware.

If a known flipper in engaging in illegal activities, then banning would be appropriate.
Has Josh done anything illegal that you know about?  If not, he is just doing business.

The Forum was never designed to be about used sales, it’s something that was added later as a convenience  .
Used sales should not be the prime activity here, the moderators should not have to judge and determine what ads are posted. The readers can make their own determination as to the value of a used LD.

It might not be illegal but my guess is ....does he transfer an open title without it being in his name first...that is illegal....
Is he reporting all this income on his taxes....if not that is illegal.
I hate being up against a con artist....if you have ever been taken....it never leaves you.....I know folks have a right to buy and sell....I have talked to a.few and they were up front and said just that....I guess the only thing to do is when this guy contacts us we need to run him in circles till he runs away....
I'm guessing he has already joined.this.forum under another name.....because he has already lowered the price on the 2003 on rv trader...he never does that....just today I saw 3 or 4 new people on the forum after I announced he was on here....

Although not a fan of flippers, if the sellers of these LD’s are happy with the price they are getting from Josh, and there’s no illegal activity, I see no harm. As Larry said, it’s up the buyers to do their due diligence.

Speaking of flippers, my doorbell rang the other day and there was this guy asking if I wanted to sell my motorhome. I said no, but he asked again "if you were to sell it how much would you ask?" So I told him $27000. His eyes lit up and said that was awfully high. I said no it's not. What do you know about Lazy Dazes? He said nothing. I said he should do his homework and research the going prices of Lazy Dazes. He replied that it was for his family of 6. I told him that there is not enough room for his family, not enough places to sleep. He said again "how much would you sell it for?" I turned around went inside and closed the door. Now I am nervous that he may be back to steal it. I will be moving it to the rear of my property....

She emailed me right after she posted the ad...I ask her to take it down while I sorted 5hrough the maint records,pictures,info.....during this brief time Josh go a message through to her and when I decided her LD was.not the one for me she called him back.....found this out a few days ago or I would have warned her....just so the flipper would not get it and it would go to a.first time buying who would keep it and enjoy it.....now the first time buyers will have to pony up double what she was selling it for...put another 10k plus into it .....50k in a 2003 with 100k miles...makes me sick to my stomach.....
This is my last comment on the matter...send me a private message if you have questions...otherwise....buyers and sellers beware...

Looks like your a fellow Veteran.  Thank you for your service. You may want to get a Veterans' License plate or put something on the back saying your a Vet of what ever conflict.  Crooks are greedy and but not stupid.  They look for easy marks.  I have a Bronze Star plate and and Iraq Vet magnet on my Chevy Avalanche telling/warning thieves of the possible consequences.  I've never had a problem.

If you are Looking to Stand Apart, be the Talk of any Adventure, then Your RV Search is OVER!
A Great Opportunity to own a rare 18’ Vintage Class C Motorhome awaits the individual(s) who are looking for the Classic Old Time feel of on the Road living! This is truly one unique experience. Small enough to fit into a standard car parking space, welcomed at all RV parks, Antique Shows (20’ standard space NO problem!) it is perfect for the beach, city or woods. It has been a such a joy driving this unique cool retro motorhome. In every place we have traveled, people have stopped, taken pictures, asked to look inside or inquired if it was FOR SALE! Until this past year we never considered parting with it. It has traveled from Florida to Massachusetts to New York State, doing every Antique Show along the way. Unfortunately, it is time to let someone else enjoy this little beauty! It would be ideal for any Dealer still doing the circuit, as we used the above cab sleeper for merchandise, allowing for complete comfort with Stove, Refrigerator, Dinette and Sleeping Quarters. It is also IDEAL for a family looking to see this Beautiful Country, knowing that you are in a clean safe environment. Lazy Daze specialize only in custom made Class C RV for individual owners.
We had started the renovation and customized interior spaces, as well as making sure that the nuts and bolts were in working order. We have a little over $21,000 invested in this project, starting with the mechanics, up to the esthetically pleasing.
NOW to the Basics: Interior
 Rear dinette version with surround windows at the back giving panoramic views and great light. The rear dinette that turns into a Queen bed

Remember this is a Vintage 1984 motorhome! It is NOT perfect! Exterior has paint chips and flaking with minor rust spots. The front Cab is ORIGINAL, shag carpet, CB radio, AM/FM radio etc. Unfortunately, our plan to start those renovations that this year was not possible. The 1996 (Bend, OR) linked above is a 23.5', not a 22'. (The 22' was on a Chevy; the seller advertises this as a Ford.)

Certainly worth investigating; something in addition to all the other "checks" to look at (and smell) carefully is the carpeting; it appears to have been covered with plastic runners. Plastic runners can trap moisture and mold and mildew can develop in the pad and carpeting. (And, eventually, into the flooring.)

All those photos and nothing of the overhead.  Is it a bunk or an entertainment center?  Looks like it's in great condition, I love the darker wood. Someone's gonna love it!!

It has an overhead bunk, you can tell from the windows there and I can see a tiny bit of it in one of the photos.

My highly upgraded 95 TK sold for $19.5K to the first person who looked at it. It tells me I could have asked for more.
It's a crazy market right now.  Watch for a massive glut of RV's and motorhomes on the market in a couple of years however.

Spoke to so called owner.  Texas title but not in sellers name, is in grandfather’s name.  Seller claims his grandfather is in Oklahoma.  I thought I’d seen this rig before in another Craigslist listed the rig in Oklahoma.  I think this guy is a little slippery.  I backed out of the deal.

Hi; Well repainted for sure. The first outside photo has some ominous lumps just near the kitchen vent. Looks like electrolysis corrosion to me. The fourth from last photo looking into the shower pan has what looks like 'brown scum' on the threshold to the carpeted area.  My TK shower pan is one smooth piece, and I don't have carpet. (Well some carpet on the wall under the threshold, but vinyl on the floor itself)  It does have the fiberglass nosecone, fake windows, and not a front window.  Pricing has to start somewhere, but depends on the buyer. The dealer doesn't have pictures of the roof, age of tires or batteries. Newer refrigerator?, Drapes, window coverings, maintenance, etc.?  RonB

2003 Lazy Daze Motor Home, Class C, 26 1/2 feet, 1 Owner with only 6,455 original miles.
This gorgeous motor home was owned by an elderly couple who used it locally only a few times.
The motorhome was always stored inside a garage and is in very nice condition, the inside looks a good as the day it was new. No wear on anything! The gentleman passed away last year and the family is selling it for whatever someone is willing to pay. (high bidder) There is no reserve. The Lazy Daze is fully equipped with every feature you could get at the time. A/C, Heat, stereo CD player, stove, microwave oven, full refrigerator, electric power step, full kitchen and dining table with desirable rear kitchen with corner window. 6 way power captains seats up front, Awning, also comes with a privacy front and side window snap on cover. premium stainless wheel covers, very spacious with lots of counter space for preparing foods, walk in shower and bathroom, comfortably sleeps 4 people. The interior is perfect, flooring, carpet, and wood cabinets, tons of storage space. The bonus is the Onan MicroQuiet 4000 powerhouse generator with almost zero hours on it. Also equipped with a class A towing package so you can tow another car or vehicle if you like. You will get many years of great camping and travel out of this hardly used RV. Hi Greg; Asking price isn't what they will get, but I might be wrong of course. $13,000 isn't what it used to be either.  I believe that 350 engine is still carbureted. I've already had two good mechanics retire on me. Carbs introduce a not seen for a while 'low gas mileage' and poor performance at high altitudes issue.  Unless you can maintain the drivetrain yourself, you're asking for trouble and expense. RonB

They redid the cab over nose to eliminate the windows.

The cabover windows are covered from the inside, you can see in the exterior photo that they are still there. Our cabover sides windows have been covered with light-proof insulation since new.

I think the bubble may have popped on COVID pricing for RVs.  Could be that because of the rush last year, all of the RV manufacturers went into over drive and over produced.  I'm seeing RV lots in the St Louis area packed full.  I would think that if families were going to buy one it would be before Memorial Day weekend which is next week.  So if the "Supply and Demand rule" is applied then since supply is higher than demand, then prices will drop.  There are some LDs advertised in the Los Angeles area and the prices are coming down from when they were first listed.

I’m the original owner.

Seems a bit too reasonably priced, along with other irregularities, like:

An original owner thinking it was built in Montrose?
MILWAUKEE mentioned yet listed in Fort Collins, Colorado?
Very few photos of the RV

Wish I could see the license plate better, but I can see enough to know it’s neither CO or WI.

Buyer beware, as always.

Hi Dave;  Well I guess Montrose is close to Montclair, but it says it on the vehicle. 'Custom made', is stretching it a bit. Custom selection of available options is more like it.  'fwd' is not either. Not 'front wheel drive' and while the driven axle has four wheels, four wheel drive customarily refers to all wheels driven with differentials.  The extra high prices seem to be falling now.  RonB

LD ads (and others) often contain weird/wrong/loopy claims and “information”. It seems that this seller confused “Montrose” with “Montclair”. Some sellers apparently know little about what they’re selling and may not take the time or make the dffort to ensure that a listing contains accurate information. It’s up to a buyer to vet the content to avoid buying a pig in a poke.

Hi Romeo;  Looks good to me. An issue with the bathroom mirror.  Torrance is very unfriendly to motorhomes. This 2003 is what I would consider low mileage. No upgrades.... That RVS-30 would have to go. Price is reasonable considering what other recent asking prices have been. Sale price is open for negotiation of course.  RonB

Can you share more about why Torrance is unfriendly to motorhomes?
This one looks interesting.

Sara; Torrance has little signs, easy to miss, at some entrances at city boundaries :announcing that RV's are unwelcome and subject to tickets and fines, just for parking anywhere but private parking".  I paraphrased that. "effective July 1, 2007 only registered oversized vehicles and/or trailers with activated daily paperless parking permits will be allowed to be parked on public streets. There are also provisions for residents who are hosting visitors traveling in an oversized vehicle or trailer (OV Visitor Registration Form). The resident registration stickers are available at the Community Development Department (CDD), and  the daily paperless parking  permits can be pre-purchased at the CDD or the Torrance Police Department (TPD) when City hall is closed. The daily paperless parking permits can be activated by calling the TPD at (310) 618-5636."
More: a FAQ answer: " What do I do when I have a visitor with an Oversized Vehicle or Trailer?
First, complete the Oversized Vehicle/Trailer Visitor's Application, available online,  at the Community Development Department and at the Torrance Police Department, with both the Torrance resident information (signed by hosting resident) and visiting vehicle information.  The completed application and the $15 per day visitor parking permit fee must be paid to the Community Development Department or the Torrance Police Department prior to calling the Torrance Police Department at (310) 618-5636 to activate the daily paperless parking permits."  Their 'day' is from noon to noon, so likely you would need two days at $15 per day to stay at a friends house.   The only time I visited, I parked in the nearby city of Lomita, on a non residential street, and used their car.
The problems I heard about, at first, involved people just passing through, stopping in front of a restaurant to eat. They didn't live there, and didn't know anyone who lived there. They received a ticket just for parking an hour or so on street where other parking was allowed. Maybe the police involved misunderstood the regulation at first. Maybe they counted on the people just passing through would just pay the fine and not contest it.  The one sign I saw had red lettering, about 10" x 8", on Crenshaw at  the 405 freeway. I should have circled back to get a photo!      RonB

The "declutter fail" seems to apply to the 1982 Chevy; the 1989 Ford in the second ad looks like it was tidied up for the photo shoot.

But, no, I don't get why an owner would not seem to care about presenting the rig in the best possible light. If nothing else, not bothering to remove personal clutter throws up red flags about all the other stuff that the owner may not have bothered to do.

YMMV, as ever.

If true, this is a very rare GP-30, a larger, taller chassis with 19" wheels, 454 V-8 and a GVW of 14,000-lbs.
They were only available from 1994-1996.

The front nose is rotted, just like most pre-1990 LDs. There is rot in the driver's side rear corner, in the walls around the toilet.
More pics would probably show more damage.
This is a rig to run away from very quickly.

Hi Romeo;  "What are the "Boils" in the aluminum above"  under and around the cabover passenger side window...  That is caused by water penetration behind the aluminum.  Called 'electrolysis' an electric current through the water dissolves the aluminum. Aluminum chloride mostly.  By the time the corrosion comes out under the paint, a larger amount of aluminum is 'crumbly' . Time consuming to fix; the water leak has to be fixed first from the inside, then restoration of the aluminum, think Bondo, then paint.
If you are retired with a lot of time, and a skill set for 'inside the wall' repairs of rot, it would make a good 'project' motorhome. If you have to pay someone else to fix it, then 'prohibitively expensive' would apply.  RonB

Yeah, Not something I would take on.  Interesting to know how that damage to aluminum happens.  Common thought would be that aluminum never corrodes like on a car.  Obviously not.  Good infromation.

Corrosion can be caused by several things. Poor surface preparation before painting is one.
Another cause seen is is corrsion cause by the interaction of a steel fastener (nail, screw or staple and the outer aluminum sheet metal, cause by either direct contact or being located in an area that has been wet…good, old fashion corrosion.
The dissimilar metals, with a little moisture, become batteries and start consumming the aluminum.

Our 1983 LD had a couple of bubbles in the aluminum, when the corrosion was removed, steel staples were found directly under
both spots. This should be considered a design or manufacturing defect. The two dissimilar metals should have never had a chance of touching.

It’s mighty nice that some of our LD Neighbors post information about LDs that are for sale from all manner of sources.   In addition, the keen observations about various pros and cons has to be useful to less experienced Searchers.

It’s certainly a kind service that must be helpful to those in the Search Mode.  So thanks to those On-Line Helpers.

The rig shows as "clean", but the seller might want to correct the GVWR, listed as 14500 pounds, to the correct GVWR of 14050 pounds. (And include photos of the roof, tire age and condition information, etc.)

"Gross Vehicle Weight: 12,120"

---
The GVWR of a 1998 30' is 14050 pounds; the seller likely means that this particular rig weighs 12,120 pounds as currently loaded. This number is not really relevant (IMO).

This one is on RV trader....it doesnt say what model it is....

https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/2005-Lazy-Daze-MONTCLAIR-5016755566

When i do a search of the vin....a 30ft rear queen comes up....but the seller is calling it a 2005 26.5 MB......they must not have gotten many calls on it due to it appearing like a.scam....flipper...
They must have traded it in to the dealer that has it now.
The web search shows alot of misc upgrades and repairs that the dealer does not show....when i put the vin in Google this old ad came up....

Nice catch! Great research.  That old ad does say it's a 26' Island bed.  There is a also photo of the schematic. That website has a bunch of dead ads.  The same exact ones have been on there for a year and no one has ever responded back to my emails.   The old ad was for $42K and the new ad is for $39K. The two cities are about 5 hours apart.  Certainly a curiosity.

Just recieved this from a member who saw it on Cl.....it is in my opinion a scam....i sent an email before i fully researched it....i found a 2 year old ad on cl....from Kingsman Az and a higher price. Same exact info in the ad...to the word....sellers name is David....not George.

Lazy Daze 26.5 REAR BATH - rvs - by owner - vehicle automotive sale (https://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/rvs/d/cave-creek-lazy-daze-265-rear-bath/7331983632.html)

Here is the old advertisement from 2 years ago

This is a good example how you can get scammed....they ask for a.deposit....your money is gone.
I am reporting this to cl.

Just got an email from the "George"....probably a flipper...proceed with caution......email reads...
I am the buyer of David’s vehicle.
He was a stickler for maintenance- being a teacher you know.
It was in his wife’s name (Janet) as you remember.
Currently stored at my Prescott home.
We just bought a pull-behind.
The number he gives 480 231 3571 says George Green. When you do a.search for that number it has multiple phone numbers and addresses. All around Az.
Rarely do people have that many Ph # and address ....scammers and flippers.
Also the name George Green is in the obituraries for one of the addresses listed.....scammer

Here's one been for sale for 17 days. Seller says camped once, burns oil, perfect fixer-upper.
Naw, Hard pass at any price.

1986 Lazy Daze RV - $16,000 (Huson) Montana
1986 Lazy Daze RV - rvs - by owner - vehicle automotive sale (https://missoula.craigslist.org/rvs/d/huson-1986-lazy-daze-rv/7323758227.html)
22' long and built on a Chevy van platform. 68,668 miles. All of the cabinetry has been replaced with beautiful oak, new upholstery throughout, custom wood steering wheel, cedar lined closet, electric fireplace, new Winnebago stainless steel sink, 2 burner gas stove and a new convection/microwave oven. The original refrigerator and freezer still works well. We’ve added a TV that uses a rotating antenna and has a DVD player. It needs some love cosmetically in the cockpit. It also needs help with its electrical system that operates the running lights and dashboard. Original handbook and all receipts for renovations are available. Runs well, but burns oil. The carburetor also needs adjustment. We’ve only camped in it one time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Back and forth to Minnesota twice. Cover included. Perfect as a fixer-upper! Asking $17,000 or best offer.

Obviously, people's choices are all over the lot when it comes to repairing, replacing parts, and doing cosmetic upgrades on one's ride, but I seriously do not understand prioritizing "feathers" over "guts". This rig is a 35-year-old oil burner with electrical and carburetion issues (and very possibly other mechanical and systems issues not mentioned), but it has ...

"....cabinetry has been replaced with beautiful oak, new upholstery throughout, custom wood steering wheel, cedar lined closet, electric fireplace, new Winnebago stainless steel sink, 2 burner gas stove and a new convection/microwave oven. ... a TV that uses a rotating antenna and has a DVD player."

YMMV, for sure!  ::)

Seller's Description
This class c motorhome was top of the line in its day. But time has done what time will do, and she needs some tlc and a little more updating than I ha e the time or money to  put in. Under 70000 original miles, new tires all.around, including the spare, at last check all appliance worked, but the ac and refrigerator need recharged. Even has the original coffeemaker you could custom order off the line. Strong motor, but needs a new battery and potentially will need the alternator replaced, needs a jump every second or third time you wanna fire her up. Will need ignition replaced, lost the keys, tore out the damn ignition, and immediately found the keys. Water damage in overcab area, but the bones seem okay. Have title, never registered it to myself though, so you'll have to add yourself as an and/or, and then when you go register it, have me and my significant other removed. Price is negotiable, not by a whole lot, any questions ill answer best I can, but no holds or next week maybes

Most or all of the roof is rotted, it has zero value, except for salvage. To fix this, the roof needs to be removed and the framing totally rebuilt. Odds are the walls have rot too.
So typical of the 80's, and earlier, LDs

Might be priced a little high.
The Banks Power system for towing would seem to indicate more power was needed to tow something heavy.
The transmission is the first thing that wears out and towing helps lead to an earlier demise.
I always wonder about rigs with few photos.

This LD needs a whole lot of work. Seller should price it basically for the value of the engine and it would probably sell. It could be a good project for someone if the price were right.

2003 Lazy Daze, 26 1/2 ft, V10, E450 chassis, rear kitchen model, 6,500 original miles, lowest mileage 2003 in the country for sale and probably the only rear kitchen your going to find. These Lazy dazes are built to order. With this unit all systems work beautifully, onan 4kw generator with only 7 hours on it, stove, oven, full size fridge, roof air conditioning, stand up shower, sink, toilet, sleeps 4, inside still smells new, interior is beautiful, all cabinetry, couch/bed, seats, back dinette is perfect, was always stored in an enclosed carport, original owner passed away, rv was only used for local trips, never used for towing. 2 year wait at the factory. If you bought a new Lazy daze, the price is $137,000, this coach is the next thing to new, you will get a coach hardly used that's practically like new, a bargain at $60k obo.

26 2003 $60K Lazy Daze REAR KITCHEN Gardena CA CL  6/21

Hard to say what it’s worth, there is a lot of maintenance to be done and to things to replace.
The brake calipers should be replaced, along with the fluids, tires and batteries, serpentine belt and the hoses. The windows, roof and possibly the endcaps need to be resealed.  Seven hours on the generator isn’t a good sign.
The double glazed windows may have already leaked and fogged up.
Just because it isn’t driven doesn’t mean everything is new. All sorts of bad things can happen when a rig sits for long periods, unattended.

26 1999 $29K Lazy Daze REAR KITCHEN Greenville SC
1999 Lazy Daze 26.5 Motorhome *Rare* Rear Kitchen RV - rvs - by... (https://greenville.craigslist.org/rvs/d/greenville-1999-lazy-daze-265-motorhome/7340128211.html)
My wife and I are selling our 1999 Lazy Daze Class C motorhome that we name the Beach House. We recently purchased a boat and found that we didn’t have the time and money to use both the boat and motorhome (I had to promise my wife if we sell the boat that we could get another Lazy Daze).

When researching buying our motorhome I kept coming back to the quality and following behind Lazy Daze Motorhomes. They are hand made in California and only make a couple hundred (or less) a year. The outside shell is painted aluminum and the roof is a single piece of aluminum. They really do hold up well over time because the build quality is so high, they are made to last. We are the second owner, the first owner was from Tennessee and went back and forth from Tennessee to Arizona in the winter. We recently took her to Maine, Niagara Falls, Key West and everywhere in between on the east coast and had a blast. At 26.5 feet we never had any issues getting into any campgrounds and found that we could park her on many streets (including right in front of the White House!), we could even back into a normal parking spot if there was space for her to overhang past the rear tires. I am a firm believer that it is much better to keep using these RVs rather then just let them sit (which is why I personally would not be very excited about one with super low milage...).

Our Lazy Daze has a very rare rear kitchen layout that we absolutely love with amazing panoramic windows in the back. The living room has 2 incredibly comfortable couches. A single couch can be converted to a double bed or both can be pulled out to make a king (our favorite). There is also a queen over cab bunk and the rear kitchen table can either be extended to seat 4 or converted to a kids bed for 2. Lazy Daze provides and excellent Owners manual that goes through every system of the RV and it was invaluable for us as new owners. Since they have been making the same RVs for over 60 years they have put everything they have learned into the manual and it is incredibly helpful (especially for us as new RV owners). She is gassed up and ready for her next adventure!

E450 engine and chassis with 107,000 miles

Last year over the winter we had 4 solar panels with batteries installed and had a certified RV mechanic go over it with a fine tooth comb. It can boondock for 4-7 days depending on your use. It also has a generator. We used the AC on a recent trip when it was close to 100 degrees and we were very comfortable. Plenty of tread on the tires. We have all the receipts of maintenance if anyone wants specifics. There is nothing (that we know of) that needs fixing or doing and it is ready for someone to finish off the summer or head South for the winter. You can respond to this add or TEXT ONLY. Serious inquires only. Asking $70k

Hi folks,

That's my 2015 TK that BSBETS re-posted, here, under the heading of Non-member Classified Listings.  Well, I am a member and I indeed posted it on this site in the Classifieds and I'm not completely thrilled to have it associated with this particular thread.

There does seem to be an undercurrent in this thread that there is a fair amount of unscrupulous price gouging going on in the used RV market.  I've no doubt that's true, and I've been accused of the same by a member of this group via PM, I was also accused of a few other things too, by this same member who knows nothing about me.

When I bought my rig I had no thought of selling it a quick 3 years later and never considered its market value at any point in time.  My wife agreed to 2 years of full timing, which we've done.  Throw in Covid, more grandkids...

So we're selling.  The NADA guide puts the value at $57.5K to $69.3k.  I listed on the high side of average. Are prices high?  Damn right, for everything!  I've no idea if they'll come down or continue to climb.  I'm an ex Coastie and retired mailman with a high school education, how would I know?

Thanks for listening,
Mike
p.s. first time in an RV was in 1971, been at it ever since (you know who I'm talking to)

I had a very unfortunate experience with this dealer.  Be very careful with them and research everything they say.

I bought this 2001 MB July 21 in 2017 in Ventura, Ca. for my friends to use. (They paid for it) I spent most of 3 months cleaning and fixing it up.  It still has a few things that should be upgraded. The original Parallax converter remains (Magnetek 6345) and the solar controller (RV-30S) They do still work, but of course newer converters and solar controllers are available now.   RonB

ONLY 10k miles on a '95? That gives me chills!

Ditto. The seized up/gunked/hardened/turned to powder potential of a whole lot of components in that few miles over that many years would be a significant concern.

YMMV, as always.

Well, certainly a nice looking coach, and way better than 110,000 miles or 210,000!  Looks like it has been stored inside.  Some things age by years, some by miles. Usually a combination of both.  This one won't have the wear and tear of worn hinges, scratches, latches. Dents and dings external and internal, etc.  It looks a lot like my '99TK except for colors.  They didn't mention the rear King bed, that the couches pull out to the middle. I prefer that my table is attached to the rear wall, and folds up to stow in seconds.
Renovation of the lighting, electronics etc. is needed. I'm going to guess that the CO, smoke and propane detectors are up to date.  Water pump, tanks, plumbing won't be any worse than any other '95.
The 454 engine is a good choice for a 22' rig. The $25k is overpriced IMO but the market will establish the value as it always does.    RonB

10,000 miles in 27 years? This means it has sat for years without use, a good way to have every rubber seal in the engine, transmission, brakes, and other parts, harden and potentially leak. Unless it has been properly mothballed during storage, a lot of work and money may be needed to bring it up to a dependable operating condition.

I would want to see maint receipts going back to substanciate the time/mileage....no receipts....means....odometer rollback, odometer replacement with one from a junk yard, odometer repaired at a speedo shop and reset to zero...odometer broken at 10k and just recently had cable replaced/repaired....among a few. Buyer beware....oh has anyone looked at the repair job being done on one of similar age...leaked a long time....rotten framing....just saying

The VIN supplied doesn't connect with NHTSA.gov.  (GM doesn't recognize it)   If it has been registered in CA continuously and smogged every two years, then the mileage is recorded by the DMV at each inspection. I believe a Carfax report will show this and the location of each inspection.   Any 27 year old motorhome is going to have imperfections and the potential for unrecognized and unknown maintenance issues. Heck even new Thor, Fleetwood vehicles have that.
The comment about the base of the Winegard TV antenna pedestal being new.... a corrosion problem, or driving with antenna up issue?  I seem to remember a 'wanted to buy' post recently by someone who wanted a GM product only.  Sounds like this would be aimed at him..   This seller doesn't claim 'one owner' anywhere, so the pedigree may not be consistent.   RonB
