Title: Replaced Cracked Coolant Resivoir
Post by: Kent Heckethorn on July 09, 2020, 06:30:28 pm
Prior to my drive to Oregon tomorrow, I had my RB serviced at my local, friendly, highly regarded and trustworthy mechanic.

Having 21,000 miles on the engine and only months away from the rigs 5 year anniversary, I had the radiator flushed. Thankfully, my mechanic is very thorough. He found a crack in the coolant reservoir.

To save a little cash, I went to a local Ford center and purchased a new reservoir. Part cost: $212.00 Installation: $35.00 A failed reservoir could have been far more costly.

Just an FYI. Keep an eye on that reservoir. Mine had no issues prior to yesterday’s evaluation. Got lucky on this one.

Safe travels.

Where did it crack?

Larry,

The e450 coolant reservoir cracked on the right side at the seam where the two halves are joined together.

Here’s a pic of the new reservoir and an arrow indicating where the old one failed.
