Every once in a while, someone will ask the Forum for pictures of a LD's construction. The following construction photos are from the Media section of the Lazy Daze Owners' Forum posted by other members of the Forum. I thought these photos might help someone since it's a bit time consuming to plow through all the media photos looking for these. We are grateful to those who originally posted these in the Forum. Thank you.
A few more pictures.
I thought I had! I'll try again. 2017 RB
Our ‘15 TK under construction.
Enjoy
No more Lazy Daze. Now dragging an egg camper around.

Just noticed there are a few duplicates. Ignore.
Interesting that though 'Styrofoam' replaced the previous fiberglass insulation, they still use something similar to the latter to fill some area. However, the foam was used in the floor insulation for a long time. When I had to rebuild part of the floor in our '83, it was used back then.

Two more photos. The one on the left shows Ed Newton and Bob Getts on 9/05.

So interesting how LDs are built from the inside out, I love photos like this, they can of much use to those repairing an old LD or adding enhancements.

"So interesting how LDs are built from the inside out,..."
::) Hmmm, I thought all RVs were built that way! At least my Holiday Rambler was. ;)
Yes, most are but having a lot more experience with building construction, it feels backwards even if is the most logical way to do it.
With LD using template to build the walls, the cabinetry and wall structure all line up and are screwed and glued together forming near monolithic structure.
FYI, many RV manufactures build the walls and then hang the cabinets, using a few screws to secure them.
My parents owned an early 90's Class C Winnie and one day, driving down a smooth road, one of the big overheads cabinets fell off.
It had been screwed in from the interior using four short wood screws. While helping to repair the cabinet, I discovered the overhead nose was rotted, the result of a leaking front window. Another fun-filled repair job.
I cheered the day they sold it.

Open for more construction photos.
Because this thread is labeled "Construction Photos" it brought back for me a glimpse of the past. On the old Yahoo site we had a page dedicated to the 30'IB and there were many photos of a "30", including as I recall some 'in process' construction photos. I know that Chris Horst will remember that and perhaps it can be resurrected and brought back into view. 8)
More photos from the Yahoo archives. Build of a 2013 31' TB.

I couldn't find that page but did find the photos of the 2013 TB that I just posted. I am looking through the Yahoo photo archives to see if there are more construction photos to be added to this thread.

Thanks for the photos, Chris! Quite the process, isn’t it?
2013 31' TB continued:
Not that it really matters...but that's our 2013 31' TB.......Todd was great and walked me through while I shot away on my camera.....we live relatively close to the factory so we were able to visit while the rig was being built....brought back great memories
"I am looking through the Yahoo photo archives..."
Thanks for those photos,, Chris.
The file that I was thinking of had a name something like: Life_With_a_30'_LazyDaze_XXX.
Sorry that my brain cells are slowly migrating elsewhere! It must have been a pre-2004 vintage because it was already on the Yahoo site when I was researching my 2004, in fact, was a contributing factor in my final decision. ;D
2006 MB construction photos: Sorry they won't enlarge much.

I'm always a little leery of monolithic structures . . .

Maybe so, Gregg. But not enough to keep you off the waiting list, eh?

Regarding the photos above of our 2013 31' TB
You'll see a few areas where we added additional electrical outlets (see side of one bed for example)
For those interested in the Cherry wood selection, the photos do a pretty good job of showing the true "feel" of it
In 2013, the area back where the beds are and the dinette/couch up front was carpeted after these were taken.
We purposely did NOT have the mirrors installed on the two closet doors in the bedroom area
Bill
Speaking of electrical outlets, is there somewhere on this site, or does anyone has a list of where the standard locations of 110v and 12v outlets are, specifically in the MB?

Great question!
If you're like us, make sure you have 110v and 12v next to your sleeping area. We like to have the smartphones next to us at night.

Bill, for sure! My understanding is that, while extra outlets are not on the option list, they are available (for a cost) if you ask.

Greg - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the "non-listed" things you can have done....just can't go crazy with the requests

"Is this it?"
It sure is Larry, thanks for that... however I was unable to connect to a link. No matter, Chris has posted more than ample shots of the framing/construction to provide LDO members an inside look. ;D ;)

I do notice one difference - when we were at the factory a couple weeks ago observed that the mid-bath propane tank is currently on the driver's side
Here is a picture passenger side storage
Kitty, thanks for all the photos you are posting! Will they be uploaded to the Media section of the forum?

Do I need to do that separately? Still figuring out how the forum works...
I think so, Kitty. I’ve never done it myself so can’t advise you.
"Kitty, thanks for all the photos you are posting! Will they be uploaded to the Media section of the forum?"
No, they will not be uploaded to the media section. This is a permanent, continuing thread, pinned so it's always visible at the top of the forum (Lazy Daze Renovations & Improvements) for easy reference. Occasionally I go through a tutorial or informational thread like this and delete some of the general comments so as to keep it fairly dedicated to construction photos or whatever topic. I do the same thing in the Current Banner Photo thread, which also serves as a permanent record to help me from duplicating photos.
Chris
"Will they be uploaded to the Media section of the forum?"
Thanks for that bit of info Chris. Always good to know where to find stuff. Darned sight easier than the old Yahoo group! :o ;)
So on that last picture of storage on the passenger side. Shouldn't there be a propane tank for a MB in that front undeneath bin? RonB

The mid-bath propane tank on current rigs is on the driver's side. Not sure which year it switched sides, from the passenger side to the driver's side.

It makes sense to me to have all the utilities on the "utility side" of the rig.
Does anyone have pics from when they hang the windows and "skin" it?

Spend some time looking through the Media files, there are dozens of construction photos to find.
BTW, the aluminum skin is first installed, then the holes for the windows are cut out before the windows are installed.

Thanks. That is interesting.
Since we are on the subject, do you know if the skin is adhered anyway?

I recall, way back in the days of Google and the "Old Forum" there was a post called "Life_With_A_30ft_Lazy_Daze" (or something like that) which was the major determinator of my decision to own the LD brand. That post had numerous views of a LD under construction. Perhaps Chris will remember and try to resurrect it for us once again? ::)

Rich, thanks for adding this link to this Construction Photos thread, which is pinned for easy reference for future readers.

These construction photos are great. Thanks for loading them. I have a 97 23.5 TK and I wonder what is under the lounge/beds in the back? Is there any storage that could be used?

Under the beds are the two, rear storage compartments. The space inside a T/K is well utilized, not much is unused.

Chris - those are my photos of our rig being built...and it looks like you captured all I took
Bill
Hi Texas78132; (I really prefer names....) Yes there is a little more storage that LD added to the TK in about 2010. They put in a door on the passenger side just above the exhaust pipe. The compartment, with heat shielding, was rotocast plastic, and below floor level. In the category of 2-3 cubic foot, it is small, but in a TK every little bit is useful. Your '97 and my '99 are on the E350 chassis, so more weight constrained than the E450 chassis.
The 'lounge' descriptor you used would imply that you have two inside barrel chairs that eliminated one external rear storage compartment, and the ability to make out into a king size bed. Or do you have the rear dinette with the Twin or King size bed (TK). In that case, like me, you have two rear external outside storage compartments. RonB
I've never seen the heater before from the outside. I loved seeing these picture.
I need to make some repairs to my LD and then sell it. I'm physically too screwed up to take it out anymore and I wouldn't do it alone. No fun being alone. I talk to myself a lot and scream at the TV

You will always have friends here to talk with and share all your LD experience. New owners can always use the wisdom you possess.
Wishing you a healthy and happy new year!
Ron
Thank you for the photos
