Title: Generator access??
Post by: tedeboy on February 07, 2018, 02:06:35 pm
I want to change my spark plugs and see no way of getting to the second one in the back.
Does the bottom skid plate act also as a support plate for the generator?
If not can I remove it to gain access?

If it is a Onan micro 4000 it only has one plug.

It is. The manual showed two but it covers the BGE and NHE models so maybe that explains it.

I have an Emerald Plus..and yes, the back spark plus is a bear to get to..have to reach up and over to reach it, not easy as you're half under the rig with limited mobility..I've had it done when getting other things serviced by people with a lift or with a pit underneath At 12:12 PM 2/7/2018, you wrote:

I have not changed the Emerald spark plugs on my '88 MB, but would a 3/8" drive spark plug deep socket with an external hex drive and an open end wrench do the rear spark plug removal trick?  I have one in my Sears Companion socket set from 50 years past.  Larry probably knows this answer!

On second look mine is a 4000 "Emerald Plus".
I think it may have 2 plugs.

If it does I have about 1" of head room to reach back there. No way will that work.

Looks like I will be in for a challenge.  In my '88 MB that access is under the plywood dinette bench hump!
