Post by: dfr on September 30, 2017, 10:21:51 pm
Hi all
I have two drawers that will not stay closed when driving is there a easy fix?
Thanks

Your drawers should have a little protrusion on the upper slide attached to the drawer that will catch on the lower slide when the drawer is fully closed.  If anything prevents the drawer from closing enough for that notch to catch, or if either part of the catch is bent or worn off, that might be a reason for the drawers to slide open.  If there is anything that prevents the drawer from settling down into that catch such as something caught in the track, that might prevent the drawer from snapping in place.

Try this - with the drawer fully, normally, closed, try a moderate horizontal pull.  The drawer should not move.  To open the drawer, it should be necessary to lift up about 1/8" as you pull back.  If the drawer opens without lifting, you will need to look very closely to figure out what is allowing that to happen.  Examine that catch in detail to look for a rounded or bent catch.
