Title: stove vent flapper
Post by: Ian & Jean on June 05, 2016, 03:46:18 pm
The flapper on the stove vent is noisy when we are driving. Is there any practical way to quiet it down short of removal? I have not checked to see if there is a screen on the outside to keep ctitters out if i did remove the flapper. Any thoughts on the issue? Thanks, Ian, 27 MB "Silver Fox", Seattle

Ian,

I had the same noise with my '03 going down the road.  I took a piece of 1/8" foam tape ( weatherstripping would work), cut a narrow strip about an inch long and centered it at the point where the flapper rests on the vent hood.  It's quiet now going down the road.  It keeps the flapper from closing tight, but I've never noticed any pests, and no problems as a result of doing this.
