Lazy Daze Pocket Guide (http://www.andybaird.com/travels/LD-guide-web/)
Checking Andy's Lazy Daze Guide, you will see that 1996 was the first year of the wide body chassis, used on the 26.5' and 31' models.
The 23.5' models received the wide body in 2003.

A side note, the midbath had the coach insides moved back to allow the cab seats to push back in model year 2000.

Also in 2008 Ford made a big improvement to the E-450 by stretching it 6 inches.  Much of the space went to the cabin.  After riding in a 2008 (I own a 2007)  I found front passenger comfort is much better.  The seats had better support as well.

Well, I slowly changed to a wide body in my early 20's...   ;D
