Ed, We're checking out rv parks in San Diego and have also encountered the ten year-old rule. Would you mind mentioning the rv park that you stay at in San Diego, along with any comments you have regarding it ? Thank you.

The "don't ask, don't tell" approach has always worked for us. We haven't tried in a few years but it worked when Ladybug was 18 years old. We've found the newer class A or 5th wheel only rule to be a little more difficult to circumvent ;-)

While our LD isn't 10 years old yet, so I can't speak to that situation exactly, I can tell you that we've stayed, quite comfortably, at Santee Lakes in Santee, just a few minutes from San Diego.  Everything, including the SD Trolley and Costco are right there.

Next time we come to San Diego, we hope to stay there again.

P.S.  Whenever we're asked how long we are (while making a reservation), I usually say 30'.  Even when the person at the desk is looking right at the LD, they don't ever press me on it.  You'd be surprised how little most people on the desk care, and the age issue may also fit into the category as long it's not a rambling wreck.  We've never been able to pass as a Class A, however.

When in the San Diego area, we also enjoy Santee Lakes, the San Diego KOA in Chula Vista and Admiral Baker. I do not think they have such a rule.
Of note, the KOA in Chula Vista is one of the KOA resort-type parks and is conveniently located near all things San Diego.

We like to stay at Sweetwater Regional Park, which is run by SD County. They have both partial and full hookups. It's a very nice place and much less expensive than normal RV parks. They don't care how old your rig is. It's about a 20-minute drive into downtown Sandy Eggo.

Ran into the same situation in Tampa Bay south RV resort. They wanted a photo and needed to approve the rig.  We went elsewhere. Normally we would have stayed at the county park but that time of year with a dog, visiting friends in the area and no car, we opted for a KOA. First time we had ever paid to camp in a parking lot (joke) but the pool was FANTASTIC! So were the iguana and the crabs.
