I just replaced the water pump in my 1995 TK (it had the original still). I replaced the original because it was starting to pulsate a lot in use and making noises with all water turned off and no leaks.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I did not have to cut an access panel. Yes it was cramped but very doable. Actually it was quite easy. I also ordered a new strainer but found that the original one fit better and there was nothing wrong with it so I used it. Pump tests out nicely. It pumps water very well.

Normally, removing the drawers will provide just enough room to access and replace the water pump in a T/K Removing one or two drawer slides can provide even better access.
A panel on the side of the cabinet would be nice but isn't necessary.

If you are working on or around the pump on a MB, it is very cramped, until you pull the power box. Remove the cover (Torx head, 4 screws) then remove the 4 screws on the sides that hold the panel in place. Carefully slide it out toward you and set it on the floor. With the normal access panel off, you will then have comfortable access to the pump area.
