I decided to upgrade my solar controller from the HPV-22 to the 22B.  I ordered it and got it in the mail a few days later.  I noticed that the new 22B came with a coiled up wire temperature probe.  I have not pulled off the older unit yet but I thought the 22 also had the probe? If it does not, I am not sure how difficult it would be to run the wire from the controllers location to the battery compartment.  Anyone who has changed out their controller have any advise?  I sent an e-mail to AM Solar asking this question but have not yet gotten a response.

Thanks,

Larry in South Texas

Larry in South Texas, I recently changed mine to the 22B and had the same question.  You'll find the temperature sensor connection when you remove the old unit.

Hey Larry, changing out the old unit for new one is a piece of cake.  No need to run any extra wires.  I do however suggest that you pull the solar panel fuse before doing it so you don't pop it like I did.  Good luck......mike

Got around to swapping out the HPV-22B for the old (6 months old)HPV- 22.  Easy job, I do wonder why AM Solar sends the temperature probe with the new units when they know that this was for a swap out with and older model and the old probe wire was
